I've heard a snippet of the Switch remix on the BBC's website. What's heard on the podcast is not that mix. So by process of elimination, I'd say it is the extended mix. But I presume that was not the song in its entirety. The way it's structured leads me to believe the DJ did not play the record straight through and did some editing or cutting up. Someone was selling a copy of the vinyl single on Discogs for $268 but it's no longer on there. I love Chaka and want that record but I ain't got it like that. | |

I doubt if there is a new album on the way. She has had a couple of single releases over the past few years with a promise of an album to follow that have never surfaced. Switch/Dave Taylor is a great producer, he was 1/2 of Major Lazer with Diplo for their first album. This is an interesting pair. I loooove his tunes "Gotta Get Down" and "A Bit Patchy" if it was just a dream, call me a dreamer 2 | |

Actually, when I saw the Twitter posting for "Like Sugar" I immediately thought it was a collaboration with the '70s r&b band Switch.  Checking out the Major Lazer album now. Is "Gotta Get Down" a Switch or Major Lazer song? I can't find it anywhere. | |

. . Gotta Get UP LOL!! I bet you gotta get down too. The tune is by Switch/Taylor as Solid Groove with his co-hort DJ/producer Sinden. Solid Groove was how I was introduced to Mr. Taylor prior to his Switch days. From what I understand he recorded under other aliases too. . Here's one of my fave Mary J. WHATUP SWITCH AND CK? Can't wait to hear the tune. OK...I get this is geared toward the clubs and dance radio. We've gotten a main version, an extended version, and a remix. I'm very familiar with and am a fan of music that emphasizes groove and atmosphere over all else. But the main version itself feels like a remix/dub/edit of a more fleshed out, expansive musical piece? Like I'm waiting for a middle section and ending that never comes. The remix has some vocalizing that's omitted from the other versions which makes me believe there's more to this song than what we've been given. I like it. But I'm so confused. Switch's remix is great too, Googling taught me that MJ Cole played this remix on BBC radio which I can totally see as the remix is right up his alley. This is a funk crossover bid for EDM heads and I loves it. if it was just a dream, call me a dreamer 2 | |
