Thanks for the info SoulAlive - I am too broke at the moment to buy, but will order the vinyl as soon as I have some cash.

Is '3-69' the song with the 'All Around The World' chorus?

Is 'Proof Is In The Pudding' the track with Chris Dave on drums and the gorgeous Fred Wesley arrangments? Or is that one of the others? Or not even on the record?

Looks like a solid list anyway. Can't wait to hear the Spotify preview. smile

> I’m also looking forward to hearing Junie’s contribution – it was probably one of the last things that he worked on before he passed.

Junie Morrison's contribution is I'm Gon Make You Sick. He did the remix, keyboard bass, the original version of the break. Medicated Creep is also probably a Junie production - not my favorite, althought the Fred Wesley break is nice...

About that clip of the Brandi song on the porch - Bushtales has uploaded that one clip a million times to YouTube as if it was the only Medicaid Fraud Dog leak.

There were dozens of clips like that from George Clinton's Periscope broadcasts. Most have been removed, but I have seen a clip with a later version of that Brandi track where it had become completely unrecognizable - and a bit of a mess.

In a Forbes interview published today George Clinton says that he is already mixing a P-Funk All Stars album that should come out later in the year. That may be the album with Flying Lotus on Brainfeeder. Whatever is not on this release might show up there.

Thanks for the info modified – yes, I knew that it was just an early demo and subject to being changed/dropped altogether – catchy as hell though, it’s been driving me nuts. I'm sure there will be a lot to enjoy in any case - I’ve even learned to appreciate George’s creative use of auto-tune in recent releases, and I hate auto-tune with a passion. biggrin

'3-69' is an instant classic.

.

'Set Trip' is based on a jam from that same early porch video with the Brandi track.

.

'All In' was recorded the night Robert P-Nut Johnson passed away. There was a Periscope clip of Gary Mudbone Cooper, George Clinton and his grand-daughters recording that at night, talking about 'P-Nut is still with us'. They had visited him in hospital that day. He was clinging to life.

.

Is "Don't Let Go" on it? A track with Chris Dave, Fred Wesley horns, a Trazea rap, Mudbone, etc.

.

Yeah I definitely need some liner notes with this one. Both Steve Washington & Arrington were recording with The Dr during the sessions.
When I got Gate off iTunes the download came with a digital booklet, hopefully this will too.

“Kool Aid” has one of the hottest grooves on the album. It’s too bad that it’s ruined by all that rapping confused

Skimming through, it sounds more consistently solid than Shake The Gate to me.

Speechless over this one y'all. After all the snippets he leaked on scope, this is nothing like what I expected. It's got an almost jazz-ambient feel on it. Some thick ass grooves here though. I gotta turn it up and let it vibrate as I digest it.

All of it is funky as hell. I'm feeling the slower tempo cuts just as deep. I am gonna have big fun with this one. Well worth the wait.

'Medicated Creep' - works OK as opening.

'Psychotropic' is great. More Brides of Funkenstein or Funkadelic than Parliament though.

'69' was ruined imho. I prefer the earlier mix without all the unnecessary GC overdubs and the disco hi-hat etc. Maybe it will grow on me.

'Backwoods' is one of the tracks I hoped they would skip. There is nothing Parliament about it and is just boring.

'Oil Jones' - still don't get that one. Rehashing the Oil Spill stuff that never worked. Repetitive mechanical beat.

'Proof Is In The Pudding' - potential chill track ruined by awful Trazae rapping. Brad Scarface Jordan on solo guitar.

'Antisocial Media' - final mix works OK. Still cringey lyrics.

'All In' is great. They left it alone, haven't added anything to the original recording - probably only engineer Ricky Tan on keyboards/drum machines.

'On Fire' is a cool surprise - I'd like to hear more live drums though...

'Loodie Poo Da Pimp' - Treylewd doing his questionable thing. Nice trumpets.

'Mama Told Me' - Lige Curry on bass? Danny on keys? Maybe even live drums? More next-generation Funkadelic than Parliament though.

'Set Trip' - brilliant TreyLewd track based on a full band jam.

'Kool Aid' - brilliant fan service. George Clinton's 'let's discuss disgusting' rhymes on backing tracks with all the best p-funk cliches I'll never get tired of hearing.

'DaDa' - effin masterpiece with Chris Dave (D'Angelo) on drums, gorgeous horn arrangement by Fred Wesley + Pee Wee Ellis, a Trazae rap that is actually any good for a change, Mudbone, cool guitar riffs (Corey Stoops + Tracey Lewis), Danny Bedrosian on keys.

'Pain Management' - another masterpiece. George Clinton getting real, pouring his heart out.

'Riddle Me This' - more fan service. Sophisticated classic Parliament sound, but who is on this? Who is on bass? Who are these singers? Are these original horn parts?

'No Mos' - good, bassy, trippy, more Funkadelic than Parliament. Steve Arrington + Blackbyrd McKnight.

'Ya Habit' - excellent TreyLewd with p-funk horns, bass. Essential lyrics.

'Higher' - sophisticated Kendra Foster appearance, cool bass and horns, reformulated classic Parliament.

'Medicaid Fraud Dog' - Robert P-Nut Johnson, Gary Mudbone Cooper (Bootsy's Rubber Band), Fred Wesley.

'Insurance Man' - gorgeous remake and tribute to Bernie Worrell, with excellent raps - the second rap ('... we have the funk because George left us instructions ...') is Buttress! Surprisingly a mix that is very close to earlier versions, not the later version with elaborate horn arrangement - which was also pretty good.

'Type Two' - also closer to the original leak than the messy version I remember seeing later. Classic Parliament horn parts added. Bringing it all together. Glorious closer.

I haven't heard the album yet, but what I read here looks promising. And I just found out that he's touring Europe! I think I'll go, because this is probably the last chance. In Brussels, he's playing on a festival with D'Angelo, who I've never seen live. Is D any good live?

my only real complaint is the same complaint I had with Shake The Gate.....too much rapping!! mad Too many of the old school funksters feel that they must stay "current" and have alot of hip-hop elements in their new music.I think it's totally unnecessary. It's not as if the young kids are gonna hear these songs and say "I'm gotta buy this CD!"...lol...they only care about their own artists from their own generation.I say, more funk, less rap, please!

Having said that, there is enough good stuff here to keep me entertained. There's enough of the classic P-Funk sound,so I'm happy about that. The horns and the jazz elements are great. This is gonna be a fun 'summer album',no doubt.

Thanks SoulAlive - I only know it from that footage that George uploaded, and it didn’t have a name at that point. It’s been rolling around in my head ever since though – sounds like vintage P-Funk to me and I was really hoping that it would make it onto the album. "When she left she left with the right to be wrong" - classic Clinton word-play, killer bassline. The fact that I’ve developed a minor crush on Brandi has absolutely nothing to do with it you understand. wink

That track is indeed on the album. It's the final track and it's called "Type Two".

Still trying to assmilate all 23 tracks, but even on an early listen this is easily George's most consistent album in decades, probably since TAPOAFOM or earlier.

A great achievement. He still has it at 77. And is still capable of surprising you.

My prescription is filled.

I am going to sit down and listen to this tonight. A little disappointed to hear there is a lot of rapping. Does anyone notice any Sly contributions?
