Lauryn Hill’s iconic debut album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, turns 20 this year. To mark the occasion, The Fugees legend is heading out on a special US tour during which she’ll perform the LP in full.

The 20-date run launches in early July and runs through mid-September. She’s set to visit cities such as Boston, Philadelphia, Miami, Nashville, San Diego, and Portland. Hill’s headlining set at Pitchfork Fest in Chicago is also part of this itinerary.

Since its release, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill has gone eight times platinum. At the 41st Grammy Awards, the album nabbed an impressive five awards. As a testament to its enduring legacy, LP highlight “Ex-Factor” was sampled on two prominent songs this month: Drake’s “Nice For What” and Cardi B’s “Be Careful”.

She is really milking every last squirt from that album. Do u think she will do like album versions or the royalty free turn my volume up stuff she's been doing for the last decade. Real friends warn friends to bring sudoku and a lawn chair for the wait.

I actually saw her in 1999 on the original Miseducation tour.It was at Shoreline Amphitheatre, which she will perform at again in August.I’m tempted to go.I love the idea of an artist performing an entire album.

I love this album, still sounds fresh 20 years later! Too bad the tour is not coming anywhere near my area though.

I am going to go out on a limb and get a ticket. I hope I am not disappointed. The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill has become my favorite album from a female artist. I listen to this cd from start to finish all the time.

I’m sure that the shows will be great. Her only problem is that she often comes out onstage really late, which angers many fans.If she can fix that problem, she’ll be OK.

Yep, her only studio album. She has her MTV Unplugged album, but yeah....that's it.

This is one of my all time fav albums, but I will not be going to see her. I don't want to spoil the album and how much I love it by seeing her do half songs, showing up late, not seeing half the lyrics etc, etc. Unfortunately, these are the things I've heard from other people that have seen her over the past few years.

She seem stubbornly oblivious to the problem. My friend went to see her in London, she showed up hours later because “divine interventions saved her life before she got there”. I love Miss Hill though, I hope we get to hear a new album from her in this lifetime.

She is so full of shit. lol I don't think I will go to Burnaby BC just for this though I LOVE the idea of a concert performing one whole album. At least my CD starts on time. lol

She did a make a follow up though. Her MTV unplugged is far more superior, lyrically.

So, maybe I'll rethink my plans of getting tickets.

Hasn’t she more or less been on an anniversary tour for the album since it came out as she hasn’t released anything else?!

Joking aside, While her performance history has been erratic, I actually think she will deliver a fairly straight and reliable reading of the album for this tour. I just think the promoters would have wanted some solid gaurentees before they got on board ‘cause this has got to be a pretty hefty cash cow for all involved. Particularly as, if it goes well in the States, she’ll no doubt take it overseas.

Why she doesn't release new music?it doesn't make sense if she isn't totally retired to have just an album.

I've actually discussed this issue with friends over the years--the possibility that the album was more collaborative than what was given credit for...

Yep. If I'm not mistaken, she had to settle out of court with co-producers and co-writers who weren't credited in the original album credits.

The funny thing is if you read the credits you will see everyone who sued namechecked one way or another.

Word? So she named checked as in gave shoutouts to such and such but didn't give proper credit in the liner notes? I don't remember...

The rumor, and alleged explanation for the "new versions" is that what you hear live, now, from Miseducation is what Lauryn contributed - lyrics, some rhythms, some melodies, etc. anything else on that album would equal a credit/royalty to another and therefore will not be performed live.

.

This is likely why no song is performed verbatim from the album anymore and why there will not be another Lauryn Hill album.

Probably because she can't afford to work with the talented and creative people around that she'd need to make a half decent album and maybe also because she hasn't got her shit together.
