There is a miconception they started Neo Soul but Prince started it on the Parade and SOTT albums. In 1986 and 87 Prince was the only one doing that sound.

This use to be my favorite group besides The Time until I met Raphael Sadiq . Glad they replaced him.rolleyes

But how is that working out for them? They aren't the same with Amar Khalil.

I actually saw them perform with a lead singer who looked, sounded & danced very similar to that Sadiq person. It wasn't that much different to me If U squinted your eyes. He has a lot of energy.

The original leader of that group history in attitude speaks for itself. I won't discredit his talent. But EVERY group he's involved in seems to break up.'Lucy Pearl' anyone?

"That mountain top situation is not really what it's all cracked up 2 B when eye was doing the Purple Rain tour eye had a lot of people who eye knew eye'll never c again @ the concerts.just screamin n places they thought they was suppose 2 scream."prince

Yes, I thought about that, too. What is the deal with Rapael Saadiq? Why did these groups break up ? I really liked that Lucy Pearl album back in the day but never really heard from them again. Why did you say that you were glad that Tony Toni Tone replaced him? I´m asking because I haven´t really been following as much as I used to.

And is the new guy´s stage name also Tone? Or Tony ? Or Toni?

Why are they named Tony ! Toni ! Toné ! anyway ?

Is Raphael Saadiq really such a difficult musicians ?

I really like his sound and the songs he did with D´Angelo.

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

It's personal. I had more than a few bad experiences with him so I'm VERY bias.

Why they named themselves Tony! Toni! Tone!? Because they all looked in the mirror and said our name should be Tony! Toni! Tone! because we look that good.

The last question ask Erykah Badu! Because he wouldn't even speak to her when he produced her last hit record "Love Of My Life".

I have listened both albums and neither or Neo Soul-ish to me. Marvin Gaye I Want You album is more of the neo soul sound and Smokey Robinson Quiet Storm album. Even Eddie Kendricks song "Each day I cry a Little" and Willie Hutch is more Neo Soul. Neo Soul has nothing to do with Prince, it has to do with 70's soul bands and artists.

Identity

Who else could borrow a phrase from Rick James and make it the title of a vulnerable, mid-tempo song?

Bad attitude or not, I'm still a Raphael Saadiq fan and love both his solo efforts and his group contributions (I rocked that Lucy Pearl album my whole senior year of high school and it's still fire to this very day). TTT is better with him than the cousin imitating him in their live concerts. Bottom line. twocents

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
