Herbie or Bernie?

Now this has occurred to me. I just cued up Herbie Hancock's Flood LP in its entirety. All I could do is shake my head as it played out. Just unbelievable to my ears.
Who is the baddest, him or the amazing Bernie Worrell. I may get flamed on this one but I don't care I want to know what you think.

Ooh! They're both BAAAD keyboard dudes! I wouldn't know how to compare. I believe I haven't heard Flood, but your post makes me want to seek it out.

I would say Herbie is more versatile as a keyboardist than Bernie, but I love 'em both.

I would say ONE is just as dope as the OTHER!!! I would have been AMAZING 2 see them share a Stage 2gether, just as Bernie Worrell & Junie Morrison did in P-Funk!!!

cool cool

I admit I had been sleeping on Herbie. This mugg is just incredible, he combined the speed with technical and still maintained the feeling, the vibe. Flood is masterful. For that matter the whole band is showing out on it. Paul Jackson's bass antics here are insane.
After that I went for VSOP, different lineup but just as badd.

BW has always been my boy, and from what I understand Herbie had great respect and admiration for him especially in the early Funkadelic days.

But I must say I never heard Bernie go in that many directions at once, with that kind of speed and precision.

That's a tie...Bernie could do the avant garde jazz stuff with ease...and Herbie could get funky with no problem. His playing on "Under The Influence" (Axiom) is hittin'.

Herbie is more of a virtuoso keyboardist. But Bernie is the guy that makes me wiggle.

Care to elaborate? What does he bring to the table that Bernie doesn't?

Ouch! This is a tough one here. Love both these guys. In having to choose, in this instance, I'll go with the late Bernie Worrell! It is simply because I have always felt he never got mentioned enough, let alone celebrated enough. His credit of work as part of Parliament-Funkadelic, Chairman of the Board, and the Tom Tom Club is beyond monstrous!! It all amazes my ears still to this very day.
