Been listening to some Lady T lately. I sure do miss her!! She was such an amazing artist, and I wanted to be her!! I loved that she was a white girl, doing soul, r&b and funk!! She really was incredible and such a strong woman! Love you, Teena! heart

Teena is my ALL TIME favorite female singer! I had the privilage of meeting her a few times. I like how she verified what Rick James did to Prince!

So cool that you got to meet her!! I heard that story about Rick stealing Prince's synthesizers! Rick was a little jealous of Prince's talent. Rick claimed that Prince stole his routine on stage during the "Fire it Up" tour and he threatened to kick Prince's ass, LOL lol

.

They were rivals, but I think they both admired each other's talent at the same time.

.

I love that Teena was a white girl, doing R&B, Funk and Soul. There will never be another female singer like her, ever again! White or black. She was incredible!! Motown screwed her over, big time! Her last album "Beautiful" is one of her best!

.

Teena's daughter had a baby boy last year. She is still hurting for her Mom. Sad that Teena didn't get to see her grandbaby. She left us too soon. sad

I was VERY hurt when she passed. Because I had just communicated with her a little over a week prior. Teena LOVED her daughter more than anything. They were always together. That baby actually saved her life. Because she was headed down the wrong path.

You are fortunate to have known Teena. She really broke a lot of grounds, because she was a white girl, singing funk & R&B, and I thought that was so awesome! She was a strong woman, and said she broke off with Rick. She had class and wasn't into all that bullshit that comes along with the music industry.

.

I was shocked when I heard Teena passed away. It was so unreal. Alia recently said that her Mother would tell her she was going to die young. That is so sad, to feel that way. I can't imagine losing my Mom that young--I would be devestated sad

.

Alia has recorded some songs and goes by the name: "Rose Le Beau". This is a lovely video. She's a beautiful girl.

Exactly! I liked her even more when I found out she was white.Which her record company tried to hide at first.

The black community always embraced her as their own. Which was unique. Teena never tried to be anything other than what she was a soulful woman that was very afrocentric. She never tried to crossover.

Her daughter looks like her. Alia also was friends with Whitney's daughter Bobbi Christina. I bet her death really hurt her. sad

When I first heard Square Biz in 1981, that was it I was hooked...I never thought I’d like an album from her as much as It Must Be Magic...but damn, then came Robbery, and Starchild...so many jams!
And finally her #1 R&B slow jam Ooh La La La
Miss this woman a lot....so many gone from my 80s...Luther, Prince, Teena, Whitney, Michael, Rick, George

I need to start bumping Lady T's stuff. Where should I start?

Also, so she's the one who revealed that Rick stole Prince's synths? Interesting stuff. I'm no music aficionado so I don't understand exactly how Rick was using Prince's grooves. Nothing on Street Songs sounds like anything Prince would have made. Can someone break this down for me please?

As I recall,Rick literally stole Prince's synths smile They toured together in 1980,with Prince as Rick's opening act. When the tour was over,Rick stole one of Prince's synthesizers and used it to record Street Songs. When he completed the album,he sent the synthesizer back to Prince.

Yea, very sneaky how they did not put her picture on her first album. hmmm

.

Teena had some cojones, because a lot of women, specifically "white" women would never do what she did. It warms my heart how the black community embraced her. She was as real as they come!

.

That's very sad, I did not know Alia was friends with Bobbi Kristina. OMG, losing her own mother and then a friend? That is just beyond heartbreaking! sad

.

Her baby boy is adorable!

I'm wondering too, how did Rick get away with that? Did Prince sue his ass??!! lol

Teena was the FIRST RnB diva to include rap on her own song.
