Yes, you read that headline right, SoulTrackers. Stop scratching your heads and read on, please. Of all people, the redoubtable Snoop Dogg apparently has put aside his Gin & Juice, and perhaps also his “combustibles,” and has curated an honest to goodness gospel record, Snoop Dogg Presents Bible of Love. He offers a sprawling, 32-track spiritual landscape featuring the leading lights of gospel, including Kim Burrell, Mary Mary, Marvin Sapp, and Tye Tribbett, among many others. Snoop himself can be heard on just a handful of tracks, preferring it seems to let the vocalists carry his message. Hats off to the Dogg, he’s made a surprisingly compelling and enjoyable record indeed.

We feature here the track “One More Day,” on which Snoop turns over the reins entirely to the great Charlie Wilson. Uncle Charlie’s vocal is urgent, joyous and ferocious, and the overall effect is infectious. Enjoy.

The list is longer than that. On Spotify, it's 32 songs, clocking at 2h14m. It's #1 on gospel charts.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Ahh, ok. I wasn't paying that close attention to the names, and certainly didn't remember any from last night. I scanned the album very quickly last night. A friend asked if Snoop was rapping on the songs, and I said I didn't hear him. Maybe he is more like a Kirk Franklin vibe - just producing, adding his two cents here and there on vocals. But yeah - 32 damn songs! It's a marathon.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.
