ummm, i don't really get it. if i was going to hack a website, i'd do something a little more clever and sinister than this

Its pretty bad but considering the album is all over the net anyway, its not so bad. If I wanted to and put a little time into it, I could download the whole album and here it. With MTV, do you have to buy it online before you here it or something? I'm waiting! I don't care. Lalala! I'm not listening!

it's still hacked. the site is simply overwhelmed right now, especially since news agencies are picking up on the story.

keep refreshing until it comes up, or use a download program like getright (www.getright.com) to hammer the files until they download. (which is what i did.)

This morning UK time it probably didn't have much traffic, so it was easy to download everything.

It's nice to have the edits of the mixes (esp. Felix mixes), and higher quality versions of the album tracks until Monday when I get the CD.

Madonna.com hacked

Over the weekend the official Madonna site madonna.com was designed to look like it was hacked and the entire new 'American Life' album offered for a free download.

Every song from the Madonna album was available to save as MP3 just as the album was shipping into store.

So ... is this a real hack or a crafty promotional stunt?

A real hacker you would think would be directing the downloads to a third party site but all of the MP3 files are coming off a madonna.com server.

All 11 tracks from 'American Life' are there to grab as of early Sunday morning. We shall all see how long it lasts.

Meanwhile, it looks like it could be a very clever publicity stunt. Madonna is certainly suffering a backlash from her highly emotional, newly discarded anti-Bush video and the preceived attack could be viewed as a strategic plan to win back 'votes' from the disillusioned fanclub.

Well done Maddie. It almost fooled us.

yeah, i read that too. however, if it was something she controlled, you can bet the site wouldn't be leveled like it is now from all of the downloading.

The fact that 'news' outlets haven't picked up on is an indication that it is a true hack.

Otherwise it would be all over the place, so as to spread the word and fulfill the purpose of publicity.

i'm glad this happened...i got a chance to listen to the record before buying it. I actually like it! After really paying attention and having a chance to really listen, my opinion on the record has changed. I will still support it at the wrecka stow.
