Ruben Studdard Releases Vandross Tribute Album I knew this was bound to happen sooner or later. Just didnt' think it would take this long. Poor Ruben. I don't know what happened. After his first album fresh off American Idol, his albums went nowhere. Everyone was dubbing him the next Luther but it just didnt happen. His last album was also covers produced by David Foster which was excellent but fell on deaf ears. Don't know why he never caught on, even on Urban AC formats.

he never caught on because he's not marketable as an artist/entertainer... he has little to no commercial appeal... its not enough to just be be a good singer anymore... | |
