Report: Justin Timberlake’s New Album Will “Push Boundaries” / Singer Plotting Tour As we reported, Justin Timberlake‘s new album is due imminently. And now more details, from those close to the project, are beginning to emerge. Full story below…
Citing a close source, Rolling Stone say they’ve been told that the follow-up to 2013’s ’20/20 Experience’ “pushes boundaries in ways you don’t expect. It’s gonna have a lot of hits.” Of course, that’s subjective. But what apparently is confirmed is that the set – rumored to be titled ‘Man Of The Woods’ – will feature a collaboration with Country singer Chris Stapleton. JT is also said to be mapping out an arena tour in support of the album, which is little surprise given the $230 million total gross of his last live outing. Needless to say, this all sets quite the stage for his headlining gig at the Super Bowl 2018 Halftime Show.

Isnt this form of talking about your new album OVER yet. Albums dont sell anymore anyway, who cares I mean really Justin. I mean does JT realize what the industry is like now? Taylor swift in one week sold more than any artist has sold the whole year, it was not even close. JT is old news and saying your breaking or pushing the boundaries and the envelope is old and tired and is meaningless in todays music world. I don't know I'll believe this project will flop when I see it. I once doubted Timberlake's reach once before and he went on the sell millions, leaving me to believe he can still survive on old-school hype from his pre-internet career. We may not think so but I'm sure somewhere there's a lot of excited people for this album. As far as breaking boundaries that's more of a question mark. Unless he and Timbaland take a hard left then I don't see this happening.

it will sell a gazillion copies. to white ppl he is MJ, and can do no wrong and to those blks who prefer their "soul" from non-black artists, they'll buy it too. all others, they'll follow the hype. so, yeah, he'll rule the year

His musical projects always play off like public relations press releases when being talked about in the press. I remember the 20/20 album press from a few years ago and you would swear JT was the second coming of Elvis. He is a good pop star, but IMO his image is not authentic.
Oddly enough, I did prefer his singles back in the early 2000's more (prior to Nipplegate) and he came across as somewhat likeable. He seems to want to be all things to all people in public (speaking on social causes which he has a peripheral understanding of) or aligning himself with every recently deceased celebrity as his "inspiration". He started off as an MJ acolyte, but is now all over the place, which makes him hard to read (IMO). Artistic growth? Perhaps, but he never struck me as an artist, but moreso a product so his new material will sell, but will not resonate with any cultural impact (once again IMO).

Despite what people say, JT was never rrally a huge seller. These days, simply going platinum is an accomplishment for just about any artist.

- I totally agree with that highlighted statement. His hype machine is about as bad as Beyonce's. I get its their job to generate buzz for a project but for people like me, it's more of a turn off than anything. Let the music speak for itself. - Due to the positive response he got from his duet with Chris Stapleton on live TV, I'm not surprised one bit that he recorded a duet with him for his record. Gotta sell records and Chris' country/blues loving audience will help do just that... sell. - But back to my point. I remember when Jimmy Fallon was gushing over him like a schoolgirl crush during one of his pre-album release promotions, I had to turn it off. Just too much hyperbole for me. "Justin Timberlake big return to Music!!!!!" was the Grammy's way of trying to get eyeballs to tune in during his return to the Grammys.

That is what I was alluding to as him lacking authenticity. Maybe the progression to the Blake Shelton/pop-bro country music is a natural progression, but as others have said, he has an audience and they will eat it up. "Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."

That's still very low. The first album was released when everyone was selling 15+ million

I challenge you to name five artists who sold 15M plus albums in 2002, the year Justified came out.

I'm not going to look them up for you because I don't have to. The late 90s/early 00s was a period of high record sales across the board
