VH1 To Premiere Madonna's "Life" Tomorrow night, tomorrow night...  Love her or hate her... you gotta love the machine that keeps her going! 
--- Madonna's 'Life' to Premiere on VH1 Wednesday By Barry A. Jeckell NEW YORK (Billboard) - A newly created performance-only video for Madonna (news - web sites)'s "American Life" will see its world premiere Wednesday at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on VH1. The clip will air following the cable channel's special "Madonna Speaks," in which the artist discusses fame and the state of the world with actress Megan Mullally (NBC's "Will & Grace (news - Y! TV)") and, in a separate interview, the decision to pull the original "American Life" video. Earlier this month Madonna canceled the release of the anti-war imagery-laden "American Life" clip to video outlets. She said in a statement that she did not want to risk offending anyone and did not want the video to be misinterpreted. The title track from her Maverick/WB album "American Life" debuted at No. 4 on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles Sales chart and is No. 67 this week on the Hot 100. The album is due April 22, the same day Madonna will perform live for an MTV special, "Madonna On Stage & On the Record." |

moderatorI'm listening to her new album RIGHT NOW!!! I couldn't wait.My first impression is...
This new CD is decidedly more "rock/pop" than techno,and it's much stronger than her last album ('Music').The songs sound more fleshed out."Hollywood" is a GREAT song but I'm not entirely convinced that it should be the second single."Nobody Knows Me" is incredible!! It's a wonderful electro-funk track that could do very well in clubs. Bear in mind,I'm hearing the album for the first time.I'll be back with a more extensive review after I've heard it several more times. Isn't it just a performance video? I was thinking Maddy would just grab a guitar,sit on a stool and play an acoustic version of the song.I can't imagine her using any of the footage from the original video. | |

well, from what i've sussed, it looks like the original video with a bunch of greenscreening to block out whatever was supposed to be behind her. but then, i haven't seen the original video. perhaps it looked cheap too, and that's how it looked. and that this was the original. so i dunno... what i saw wasn't all that impressive. | |

hmmm, yeah, part of the video snippet i saw this morning was of the rap, and it was this scene. and there was an American flag greenscreened in behind her. was it like that in the original? | |

The American flag is only behind her during one part of the song.It's when she raps "I'd like to express my extreme point of view...I'm not a Christian and I'm not a Jew".The rest of the time,the flag is nowhere to be found. | |

okay, that's what i saw. um... how about the parts where she's on... what, a tank or something? and spraying water? it's intercut with real footage of quick glimpses of tanks & other war shit? and she's spraying the crowd with water? and they left the Bush part in... unless they were just showing the original, and not the edit. i sure hope it was the original. i guess i should download it to find out. but if that's what the video was like, it really sucked and i'm glad she pulled it hopefully the new one's better. | |

and not even because it was just her in front of the camera. that could have been kinda simple and neat. the green-screening of the flags behind her made it look cheap. yuck. she looked fucking great in it, though, didn't she? | |

I JUST HAVE TO SAY...
Madonna seemed really stupid last night on Vh1. I have always liked her and her music, regardless of her political views. But please, she's gonna sit up on VH1 and preach about life and what it means to be truly happy. Excuse me? And whats her name from Will and Grace, was such a horrible interviewer, she was totally kissing her ass, it was pathetic. So, she remakes her video for fear of how it will effect her family or for how it may be misinterpreted? Please, I thought she hat more balls than that. She's disappointing here, because I wish she would have shown it, so that she could have been critiqued. I cannot see how these celebs can sit there and trash the president, but God forbid anyone do the same to them... freakin fools... | |
