I'm trying to figure out what class y'all talking about. I found about Prince listening to Darling Nikki and Get Off when I was a little girl so...

Stop acting all high and mighty like y'all don't know all the lyrics to Cream

I agree.J-Lo’s “tribute” was particularly annoying and lousy.

It's a matter of personal taste, my dear. I thought it was crass and cringeworthy. So shoot me for having an opinion.
You are talking about Prince from the 70s, 80s and 90s. He moved on from all those in your face innuendos, that made a lot of sense when he was in his 20s and 30s but stopped making sense for him later on. You would all cringe if you saw 50 year old Prince in those assless pants or performing oral sex on a guitar. He did it then, when it made sense and made a point. He was brilliant at it. He did it all. And we all loved it and him for it.
So yes, I used the word class because that's what Prince was all about in later years. The man oozed class and charm.

Well said and I agree. And we forsure loved him for all of it
So in light of that her montage/tribute should have been full circle
Too and got her up off her knees and on her feet and her butt more
Covered! That would have been a full circle tribute. Artist who get tributes
Get the whole career honored not a couple of albums. We don’t just go
On about ziggy stardust do we.

Except Prince got over it (for the most part) as he matured. As he said to Tavis Smiley back in 2005:

“Well you know everything is relative. First of all racy back when I was “racy” as you say I mean it’s pretty light now. I mean if you take the words to Darling Nikki, which I got into a little bit of hot water about back in ‘84, if you take those lyrics and read them now it’s a little different than say, the president of the RIAA reading the lyrics to one of these current hip hop songs at a congressional hearing. It’s a lot different now. Anytime you have to rely on just raciness alone you know you can only...put it this way...you’re going to get the audience you deserve. You know when your 21 years old you know your gonna try stuff. When you’re 40 it’s, you know, you don’t wanna be pulling out body parts cuz it’s just old skin. It’s different then. You don’t want to be showing all that.”

“One can’t be different by being racy today. It’s not interesting anymore. Sexiness was in the mind. It was in your imagination. When you lose that then like I said it’s just old skin.”

I actually enjoyed JLo's tribute to Prince! Much better than what JT did.

Yea, I didn't get the lesbian thing, but oh well......she did a good job.

I liked how she picked the sexy/erotic/controversial songs. I appreciate her doing that, because people need to know that he was a very diverse artist, and he did a lot more than Lets go crazy and Purple Rain.

Thanks for the info. .i really dug that. Can't tell if it was pure recorded audio or what, and she's not the most animated performer but that was a great medley. I enjoyed it.

I wonder if people just don't know Prince 's post WB years or of it just wouldn't be appealing enough.

Jlo's performance/tribute wasn't...terrible, but...I still think that Shelia E.'s BET performance/tribute was better. That being said, because Prince was such a diversified (highly talented) artist with work that appealed to so many people for so many different reasons, then we can expect that all kinds of folks will continue to pay tribute to him, which means that most will focus on and emulate things about Prince in a particular way that others may find annoying or just lame. Yet, as long as it comes from a spirit of love and creativity, then I'm cool with just about anything that folks do to show their love for Prince. Well...okay...not everything...I still don't know what the hell Madonna was doing, but, again, some folks liked it.

Justine’s tribute was much classier and respectful. However, I guess Prince fans don’t appreciate that he showed his respect for Prince at the Super Bowl. Damn, I wonder what these same whiners would have done if Justine had completely ignored Prince and not gave him any props, while in Prince’s HOME TOWN!!!

Sheila & The Revolution's tributes are the best, without a doubt........but, JLo did a good job. It seemed genuine and not over-the-top.

I think it would be in Justin's best interest to refrain from ever doing any tributes of anyone, ever again.

I agree that Justin should never have done a tribute to Prince. Prince fans did not appreciate the tribute and Justin should have just ignored the fact that he was in Prince’s hometown and acted as if Prince meant nothing to him. *Sarcasm intended.

It was a one-minute, half-ass tribute.......why did he even bother?

.

You are right -- Prince fans did not appreciate the tribute, specifically the one's who know that's not what Prince wanted.

I don't agree that artists who genuinely love Prince music should not doing any of his sexy songs, which is a big part of the classic 80s Prince that most of us love. If we wanted to expose a young person to Prince music, I imagine nearly all of us would share a lot of his classic 80s stuff even if we also shared some of his newer songs. It doesn't feel disrespectful to Prince to do so. It would be unnatural for artists to ignore the songs that caused them to fall in love with Prince out of respect! Even Prince at times would not sing a particular lyric that he felt was too sexualized and have the audience sing it instead, so I think his issue was that his behavior needed to be in keeping with his religious beliefs. I am sure he would hate to see a sexy woman dancing in his later years lol .
