I've heard and enjoyed his work with Peter Gabriel but I dont think I've heard any of his own stuff. He is a powerful vocalist.worship

Ha! I just mentioned him in another post. I once co-produced a concert that featured Youssou and Salif Keita. I grew up on world music by folks like them and Miriam Makeba.

Diggin Red Hot & Riot now... Fela Kuti

Saw him briefly when Mandela paid a trip to a city near me the other year.Ladysmith Black Mambaza was there too, they and a whole heap of South African musicians were very inspiring.

There's alot of untapped, brilliant talent in S.A.

SEVEN SECONDS

Always good to see folks appreciating the genre known as 'world music' (a phrase probably coined when a group of middle-aged men sat around sipping their Grand Caffè Latte's somewhere in Covent Garden). Anyway, I digress...

NuPwrSoul:
Red Hot & Riot is still banging out from my stereo. Do you happen to own any original Fela records?
