And she didn't have a huge sponsor like Pepsi, Nike, Coke or whatever. There weren't endless ads on TV. Her last album was released over two years ago (at this point). She literally did 56 dates and grossed $33.4M on mostly word of mouth via social media.

That is a motherfucking legend!

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Yep it’s an accomplishment. Janet just needs to continue to build her touring rep and she will have bigger tours in the future

Do you know how much Cash the Promoter put into the entire Tour?....$33M is a good amount for a Rebooted Tour, but who is winning financially and who is losing?

I wonder how much her last tours made if you combined the first leg of the "Unbreakable Tour" and the second revamped "SOTW Tour"?

Roughly $50 million. Including the 3 Japanese dates she did that were never reported.

I never said anyone was winning or losing. You did. I said it was an accomplishment to make $33.4M on a tour that did not have a major sponsorship or promotion (on TV, radio, billboard, print ads, etc).

But does Janet really have longevety as a touring artist going forward?

She can still dance, but she's past 50 years old.

Touring is very grueling. Especially for an artist like Janet. At this stage in the game, I don't think she has anything more to prove other than what she came back and did. Jackson can bow out gracefully and turn to other avenues in a career that's lasted for over 40+ years.

I don't think she needs to bow out of the music business. However, having a young kid, I do expect her to take time off to spend with her little boy. I would get she makes an album in 2019 or even 2020. A tour would be 50/50 by that point. I don't think she'd be up for it. But, she could blitz it out with remix singles, videos, interviews, maybe some TV performances, etc. I would not even surprised at her writing a children's book, either.

We need to start a new forum for "non-Jackson family-related non-Prince" things.

Why?
This is the non-prince section. I don’t see threads created for other artist. So if you want to discuss ‘x’ artist please create the appropriate threads for them
