OHIO Funk's Best In the 70s's, the state of Ohio brought the world the likes of Junie Morrison, Bootsy Collins, Steve Arrington and Roger Troutman. I think these 4 guys were some of the most influential musicians on the funk scene in the 70s and goin into the 80s, yet were all from around the same area. Bootsy and Roger get the most credit from the masses (Roger more so in the Hip-Hop community.) But Junie was just as important, and Sttevie get's madly underrated in that area. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Hope he's not done touring; saw him in 2015 and it was a great show. Really tight band. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

One of my great regrets is never having experienced Slave live during the heyday. These cats were young and full of fiyah. Another underrated band out of that scene is the group Dayton.
