If by 'current' we mean artists active since 2010 (not necessarily debuted since then), I'd say Ledisi, Mark Ronson, Pharrell Williams, Daft Punk, Janelle Monae and Marina and the Diamonds. Discovered Tuxedo recently too.

Forgot about Janelle!

She's been quiet lately.

I think current artists more accurately refers to artists who have debuted since 2010.

Current releases would capture artists of varying degrees of experience.

In any event, I'd include Hiatus Kaiyote, Anderson .Paak/NxWorries, Moonchild, Thundercat and The Internet.

Lauren Jauregui of Fifth Harmony has been featured on a bunch of others work, watch out for her one of the few young performers that can actually tour and sing live

Camila Cabello formerly of Fifth Harmony, has a very unique voice and also can sing and write and also play her own music, her debut solo album is pretty damn good.

Alessa Cara got into her late went back and she also is a strong up and comer that can sing and hold her own and write.

Some Prince friends, like Andy Allo is top notch, Judith Hill beyond top notch

Leon Bridges, Gary Clark Jr. though not new

And sorry but a lot of older artists are making top notch records, but AGEism all around keeps them off radio, but sorry if its a great record its a great record whether it charts or not whether you are 25 or 55 sorry but thinking otherwise is moronic.

^I actually quite like Jauregui's voice in the live performances I've seen of hers, but I think she's a diamond in the rough. If she could break free from 5H and team up with a good songwriter, there's great potential there.

.

I never liked Camila Cabello's voice, but surprisingly I do not mind her solo work and features so far. The singles she was on last year are kind of earworms. 'Havana' is my jam XP!

Cabello’s solo album is really good I was actually very surprised but the clincher was that except for Havana there are no guests, two songs are so bare with her and piano. I like her voice and also understand why people don’t also, it’s very unique even Simon Cowell said that will be her thing that will keep her out there.

Last years singles all were scrapped from the album as they were leaning towards generic pop rb and though she co wrote them producers she was paired with thoughtsince that wasFifth Harmonys sound mwhy stray. Well Havana proved them wrong.

I'm never sure of the criteria that's used to define a "current" artist. Surely anyone still making new music is current? In which case my favourite is Bruce Springsteen.

However, if current is defined as someone whose debut album has come in the last 5 - 10 years then my favourites include:

Boulevards
This guy is a revelation. His music is like a cross between Prince, Earth Wind and Fire and Rick James. Seriously, check him out. The song "Steady" from his latest album is on YouTube.

The Gaslight Anthem
New Jersey rock band that's been compared to Springsteen but I hear some latter day Bon Jovi in some of their work. Great live too.

Janelle Monae
I don't need to explain that one, do I?

A few others worth checking out include:

Diamond Ortiz
XL Middleton
Harts
Chromeo
And of course, David Jordan.

A few months back my son introduced me to Daniel Caesar's Get You. That's pretty much it as far as current artist go.

BØRNS' - Blue Madonna album has been on hella REPEAT since it's release:

I think most Prince fans would appreciate the genre-mashing, androgeny.

Peep "God Save Our Young Blood" , "Iceberg", "Second Night of Summer" and "Dont want you back"

Bruno Mars Childish Gambino Tuxedo Dam-Funk Kendrick (think he's super overrated though) J. Cole Ariana Grande (despite subpar material) Big KRIT BTW, what constitutes a "current artist"? I noticed some people list Beyonce (which is fine BTW) but she's been making music for nearly 20 years at this point.

Lady Leshurr

.

I only recently heard about her, through two old posse cuts: the 'Female Takeover' send-up of Tinchy Stryder's 'Game Over' collaboration, and the Mikey J produced 'Rock the Mic'. Both put her alongside fellow lady MCs Amplify Dot, Lioness, Baby Blue, RoxXxann, and Mz Bratt (with 'Female Takeover' also throwing in Envy, girlband Ruff Diamondz, and singer Cherri V).

.

I rather like what Leshurr is doing on either of those posse cuts, but I haven't yet found a solo track of hers that quite 'clicked' with me (including her Queen's Speeches). Instead, I've been listening more to Mz Bratt/Cleo and Envy. But I think each of these UK girl rappers are pretty interesting.

.

Current artists I like include:

Hiatus Kaiyote

Tokimonsta

Anderson.Paak

Disclosure

Carminho

Ana Moura

JoJo Levesque

.

There's more, but the above feature heavily on my current Spotify playlists.

.

LOVE LOVE LOVE..since the very beginning
