Video: Miguel Fucks On Stage (sorta)

This popped up on Twitter yesterday. It's so fucking awkward.

Miguel tries too hard. He’s trying to be bold and shocking, but it all looks phony and contrived.

Totally agree. If anything, he's a copy of a copy of a copy. Sex in music on stage isn't even new when Prince did it (although he certainly pushed the limits).

I don't know why artists thing they are being so provocative doing this shit. We live in an NC-17 word it seems, so to see yet another young guy on stage trying to fuck a ghost - boo, we've seen it. It's sorta like when you're a kid and you learn a new cuss word. You say it all the time to try and show off, when everyone else is like "Duh, motherfucker!".

Overshadowing his prodigious talent and remarkable new album solely in the name of shock value. Pitiful.

I agree.Simulating a sex act onstage is so played out.Miguel seems desperate for attention.

Makes it even worse, but it seems to be floating around Twitter lately.

Remember that awards show from a few years ago, where he jumped into the crowd and almost broke that girl’s neck? lol that’s what I’m talking about when I say that he tries too hard. His music is whack,so he tries to make up for it by doing absurd stunts onstage...and it often backfires.

I do not like the current CD but his first was really good and it is a shame he has no confidence in that sound to continue and had to go with this eletronic Trap music. I am pretty sure this CD will bomb and if he had a 3 album deal he is done.

Did he learn nothing from usher and ne yo? Weeknd almost went that route for starboy and I worry if he does it for follow up and if soulless gomez had any influence he'll disappear too

That is the problem with today's artist they simply do not look and learn. Build your audience by being different not doing what everyone else is doing is going to draw people.

We do not need 5 dozen artist doing trap music. It easy to get lost in the crowd and now he is lost. Hip Hop fans were never going to be his audience. neutral

In the wake of what is rightfully deemed an uncreative and unthinking phase of R&B/soul music,
the fact that Miguel makes an attempt to steer left of a musical movement devoid of any substance
should be rewarded and appreciated and we should temper our criticism of his overt devotion to
exemplary standards like Prince and Marvin Gaye with a sense of relief.

I don't like his music (because he's not writing and performing for adults in my age bracket) but
I will never knock his hustle, especially while recording artists continue to present mediocre music.

He is not steering left he is right in the middle of uncreative phase of R&B despite not starting out like that.

I don't see it that way. There isn't much from his most recent offerings that suggests Miguel is
appealing to the very same artistic sensibilities or topics other R&B lotharios are. For example:
his new album is grounded politically; when's the last time we said that about Usher, or Chris
Brown, or Jason Derulo, or Bruno Mars?

The Org doesn't like Miguel because he would dare place himself and present himself as a kind of
heir apparent to Prince. Yet, Miguel should not be criticized for his aspiration and inspiration and
I am glad he's making music, even though I am not a fan. Someone needs to counter what is
so staid in Black American pop music!

We are talking about the music not the lyrics. You are not going to get people to hear the lyrics if the music sucks or just sounds like everyone else's stuff. Look at the liner notes. He has a cast of thousands working on this CD and the music is dreadful.

He could have kept the music from the first CD and had polictical lyrics. Now he sounds like everybody else on RnB radio. This is going to bomb.

Agree.

It is because of stage antics like this that I ignored most of his music when I first noticed him years ago but then I put aside my criticism and gave his music a chance, and I actually really like some of his songs and I like the music and the lyrics. He doesn´t really need these corny gimmicks.

And...dude has been in a monogamous relationship for more than a decade, right? So why do this stuff ?

He also injured a fan a while ago.

I like him more when he´s just being himself and not trying to live up to a certain reputation.

Yes, that was another memorable Miguel moment.

lol

But I still like his music. I find some of his songs quite relaxing and he manages to put me in a good mood.

And I like his honesty, for example when he admits that some of his songs are not really meant to be very deep , like that Skywalker song.

Seems to be a down to earth nice dude....he doesn´t really need to be that pseudo-sexy.

Exactly, sad he feels he needs to image when he has been with the same women for 10 years. He needs to marry that girl biggrin
