The Jacksons: Legacy; is it worth it? Just realized that the Jacksons 50th anniversary book came out a few weeks ago. Has anybody picked it up yet? How is it?

Who knows? At this point anything jackson other than janet is milk money. Probably better off staying true to the existing books than investing in a watered down compilation of rewriting the narrative for the masses

Better to buy Jackson family values, it tells the truth and is positive & objective when it comes to mj

I just want to read something that is fair and balanced......that's all. For the last 8 years these type books are either hatchet jobs or puff pieces. I know some will buy it for the photos alone.......but the narrative Keep Calm & Listen To Prince

The only new books worth buying were man in the music, remember the time, and I guess in the studio with mj, though I felt weird buying the last one cause I know what a sacred experience composing was for mj and not so sure if he would have wanted that released though I was interested in how he did it anyway.

That was a great book and very informative about him in the studio. Not alot of books on that for many artists. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

This is not a biography it's a picture book. PRINCE: Always and Forever
MICHAEL JACKSON: Always and Forever ----- Live Your Life How U Wanna Live It

I agree with you, I was too sad to enjoy it 100% at the time I bought it, would love to revisit it again soon

Well I checked it out at Barnes and Noble yesterday and while the pictures are nice, I was expecting more like something to actually read. Pretty underwhelming for a 50th anniversary book.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Doesn't one of the J Randy Taraborelli books cover the early J5 and J5 period. Think it's the second pressing, haven't got the first one but I imagine it covers more. The latter editions much of it is omitted. I think a detailed J5 book with reflections from the brothers would be great. Along with comments from Stevie, Smokey etc. I was going to make a new topic but thought I'd ask here. The J5 audition tape for Motown, was Berry there to see it and signed them on the spot or did Suzanne DePasse send him the tape and he made the decision then. In the Jacksons TV show in the early 90s IIRC Berry was at the audition but maybe that was done for affect.
