This is an odd topic, since it is implying that good music is somehow now bad because it is either "old" or played on the radio too much. If you don't want to listen, turn the radio off. For me, especially, Princes old stuff is never boring, no matter how many times I listen. It is either always good or was never good and you were kidding yourself at the time.

Most disco though should be banned. lol. Sexy Dancer being the Disco duck of that year. lol. nana Deja.

Not an odd topic at all. I love taco's but if I had to eat them for dinner every night, I can guarantee you I wouldn't love them for long. What I'm really saying is why are "old school" stations so limited in what they play. For example why play "Super Freak" until we can't stand it anymore when you could mix in "Cold Blooded" or "Hard to Get" And can you give us some Kashif, Brass Construction, Raydio, and Bootsy for god sake!

Exactly! I love Rick James, but if I hear "SuperFreak" one more time,I'm gonna go insane! Why don't they ever play stuff like "Bustin Out","Ghetto Life" and "Cold Blooded" (like you suggested)? I get sick of the same old oldies!!
Yep on Rick James I Agree as well.

Ghetto Life is my cut! Besides being on the Street Songs album, I think it was the B side to either GITMB or SF. Thats one hell of a single right there! 2 for 1!

Actually,"Ghetto Life" was released as the fourth and final single from 'Street Songs' (after "Give It To Me Baby","SuperFreak",and "Fire And Desire").It didnt chart as high as those previous songs, but it remains one of my favorite songs from the album.

Just dug out the old 45 of Give It To Me Baby and Ghetto Life is the B side. Don't know if they released it as it's own single later but it is on the flip side of GITMB.

Just noticed this is a promo single (used to be in a record pool back in the day) and you were right about Ghetto Life being a single later. Ghetto Life / Below The Funk (Pass The J) I have that in my creat. Haven't pulled the vinyl copy in years. BTW David, do you remember a song called Mary-Go-Round or Mary Goes Round? I think it was the album right before Street Songs. Garden Of Love it might have been called. Used to dig that jam but lost the album it was on (Big Time was the main single) and can't find it any where.

Back in the day,it was common for songs to first appear as a B-side and then be released as a single later.I have the 45 of Skyy's 1981 hit "Call Me" and the B-side is "When You Touch Me",which became it's own single in 1982.That's strange, isn't it? Yes,I remember the Rick James 'Garden Of Love' album.I love the first single "Big Time" and it contains that other song you mentioned ("Merry Go Round").Sadly,it's out of print.
