When you try to rewatch it on youtube, many of the videos its asking to sign up to a streaming service, says no charge but want your credit card info...??? sad Anybody find a link where you can rewatch (especially this segment) without directing you to another site???

I have seen that with other artists/gigs too, it is a form of phishing I believe, don't fall for that.

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

CBS has a link: http://www.cbs.com/shows/...he-apollo/

But I think it is only accessible for US citizens. I can't watch it unfortunately, being from The Netherlands.

He did a nice guitar solo, What song was that? And one part he had a cane thrown to him on stage. But of these parts reminded me of Prince.

Agree, that was tough, but not Bruno's fault.

No one will ever come close to the Prince swagger and stage bizness. wildsign

biggrin razz cool Remember this:

That big show would be Mars, probably the closest thing to Prince these days in terms of pint-sized quadruple-threat performer: singer, songwriter, dancer and musician who crosses several styles and functions as the consummate superstar bandleader.

But while Mars' singing, dancing and style choices were Prince-worthy, the guitar was an ... interesting choice.

For one thing, he'd strapped on one of Prince's custom Cloud guitars (the white one, or at least a replica) and played it gamely along with the band. Then came the solo. The solo. The "Let's Go Crazy" solo.

By no means was it as bad as, say, Nick Jonas' disastrous effort at the ACM Awards back in April. In fact, it was perfectly capable — Mars has real chops on guitar, and just about every other instrument in the studio, because he's one of those guys.

But he's no Prince.

And who is? Prince Rogers Nelson may be best remembered as a pop superstar, but make no mistake: He was a guitar god among guitar gods, and that solo is one for the ages. Taking it on is like taking on Whitney Houston for an American Idol audition. It just isn't done. And if you're going to try it, you got to have it down. Every note. Cold.

Mars played a sort of simplified, stripped-down version, and played it ... just OK. lol

There are a lot of superior guitarists out there, guys who've studied the craft for years and nothing else, who could've stood in here; and no one would've complained. And even they would've fallen short of the real thing.

But hey, credit to Mars and the Grammys production crew for the choice to do just one song — clearly they'd learned their lesson from the schmaltzy medley that Lad...ed through at least year's tribute to David Bowie. That performance was hastily thrown-together, however, while this year's Grammys producers had some time to plan and practice.

Here I am! wave lol Gurl you already know...I was getting my ENTIRE life to this freaking incredible hour of pure, raw talent! I'm so proud of this man! bawl He really is a legend in the making. We got something special with Bruno Mars. He did the Apollo proud, the legends that went before him proud, his mama (may she RIP) and his entire family proud. And of course he did us, his fans proud! Now I'm off to re-watch it again on my DVR--one hour was not long enough. There needs to be a DVD release with an extra 1-2 hours of bonus footage.

IT'S BRUNO MARS SEASON EVERYBODY! excited excited excited excited excited excited

Wrong forum, this thread is about Bruno's TV special.

I'm not sure what you're babbling about this time but Bruno plays guitar solos in his live shows all the time so this wasn't some one time thing.

If you checked him out on youtube there are dozens of vids where he is playing instruments. He is a real musician and a damn good one.

People need to stop looking for the next Prince and give these young cats a chance. There will never be another Prince so stop setting yourself up for disappointment with false expectations.

There are a handful of great artists out there if you open your mind.

I meant to say I'm talking about 2 different songs during his performance.

Calling All My Lovelies is the Song where he had a cane thrown to him on stage, right?

Then there was another song he did a guitar solo, What song was that?

The other song is "I'd Rather Be With You" by Bootsy Collins.

He perfectly mixed the two songs, even Bootsy tweeted that he admired that.

The song is also the basis for "Redbone", Bootsy's music is still relevant to this day which is very awesome cool

I've discovered that song just recently, great song.

The special made me hope he puts out a live album and dvd of his tour as the show was an abbrieviated version. The live performance of Perm, Chunky and Calling All My Lovelies had me wanting them on CD
