BET’s ‘The Bobby Brown Story’ slated for fall 2018 BET’s ‘The Bobby Brown Story’ slated for fall 2018
BET is set to release the two-part followup to the “New Edition Story” with “The Bobby Brown Story,” which will be released in fall of 2018.
Woody McClain will be back to reprise the role of Brown after playing the singer in the miniseries, which will focus on Brown’s solo career after leaving the group, as well as his affair with Janet Jackson and his marriage to Whitney Houston.
The story will span 30 years of Brown’s life, from his time as a drug dealer in Roxbury to his successes in his career and personal life.
The biopic will also cover the devastating blow to Brown’s life as he and Houston were unable to overcome drug problems and divorced in 2007. Houston was found in a bathtub just before the 2012 Grammys, and their daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, was similarly found in 2015 in a bathtub. She died in July 2015 after spending six months in a coma.
However, there is a redemption aspect to Brown’s story, as the biopic will also tell the story of his sobriety and how he learned to be a better husband and father and was remarried in 2012 after finding love again.
“The New Edition Story” garnered record ratings for the network, so we’ll have to see if this story will be able to repeat the success.

The N.E. Story was surprisingly better than I expected; we'll see how this one turns out... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

I've read it. I wonder if the ghost is going to be in the movie. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Also if you listen to Ralph Tresvant's radio program, he sometimes talks about things that has happened with New Edition. Ralph talked about the rumor that he sang Every Little Step instead of Bobby after a listener called in to ask about it. He said he had nothing to do with the song. He mentioned that On Our Own was originally offered to NE, but was turned down. On one show, the entire Under The Blue Moon album was played and Ralph talked about recording it. He said he had a good time doing it and it was less like work than the other albums. This should be very good if it's anything like the N.E. one.

I remember hearing Bobby doing interview claiming basically it was Janet that drove him to drinking. Her breaking up with him or cutting off early whatever they had started. Were they they really that close or was this Bobby embellishing things? Just curious....

Bobby briefly talks about Janet in his book, but said nothing about her causing him to drink. He basically implied she does what Joseph Jackson tells her to do and not really in "control" like her image. So according to Bobby's book, he broke up with her, and it was mainly because of Joe interfering. Well according to Out of the Madness: The Strictly Unauthorized Biography of Janet Jackson by Bart Andrews (1993) after she found out about Bobby's out-of-wedlock kids (which reminded her too much of Joe), she decided to have a 2 week fling and dumped him quite gently, by telling him that one day he will make "a great husband" or something like that Anyway they did look great together I wonder who will play Janet?
