It's 24 years (!!!) since this album came out.... and despite it being absolutely fantastic, and a testament to the incredible writing, inspiration (whether bad or good) of Martin L Gore, and possibly the greatest achievement of the band that has oddly, never truly gotten dull....

I've never felt the mix was as strong as it could have been


THAT SAID.... does anybody have any multitracks of this album? Is there possibly somewhere in the realms of the internet.....an ALTERNATE mix?

i can't believe it's been 24 years. i saw this tour twice. the the opened for one, i remember. that was badass.

i'm actually going to see them next month at the hollywood bowl with my best friend, who i met camping out for world violation tour tickets 27 years ago...i wish the the was opening for them again.

Which night are you going to the bowl? I'm planning on getting tix to the Monday night show (likely to have more available at this late hour) But at the moment I'll have to wait till payday (oct 6th) which is cutting it short.

I've seen em live twice...one at STAPLES/EXCITER TOUR (audio and audience sucked or were completed stoned)

Then again the same year at ANAHEIM (*fantastic sound/show/crowd energy)

Missed them on the TOURING THE ANGEL tour because I didn't want to catch another cruddy STAPLES show.... I bought tix for the Honda...but my night got cancelled (if I remember correctly Dave had surgery)

Missed the others, mostly for monetary reasons. This last album wasn't bad, but I'm a little surprised that it wasn't as good as DELTA MACHINE (which had its best songs IMHO on the "BONUS" disc)

i'm going weds. the 18th. i got tickets as soon as they added that date.

i saw world violation twice (cincinnati and cleveland), devotional twice (same) and the singles tour in philadelphia (for which dave gahan was at the height of his addiction). that was a lame show that i walked past pj harvey playing in a club to get to...i was pissed.

i lost track/interest after ultra...then picked back up after i heard 'wrong'. i don't think i've ever heard exciter. the new album is okay, but i've watched some youtube of this tour and it seems worthwhile. i'm just happy to have got the chance to make a pretty solid west coast trip out of it. i don't travel a lot, so i'm pretty excited.

I really liked this album back in the day, and still do.

For me, though, Depeche kind of died after this. Alan Wilder was really important to the group, I think (both musically and in terms of 'ego balance'), and once he left they were past their prime. The kind of sounds they got in the studio with Wilder and Flood working together on the nuts & bolts was really unique, in addition to c. 1987-1992 being Martin Gore's peak as a songwriter.

It's....ok. It has a handful of stellar tracks on it (ahem *Condemnation*), but I hardly ever listen to it when Im in a DM mood. This probably wont be a popular opinion, but I much prefer Ultra, and find it to be a far superior album than Songs. It obviously doesnt come close to Violator, either. It's not my overall least favorite record of theirs, but its near the bottom of the barrel for sure. I need to give the new album more of a listen than I have. I'm sure there's some bangers on it, like all of DM's albums.

Bought a ticket on stub hub at the last minute... an asshole co worker of mine kept coming in sick during a training assignment until I GOT SICK over the weekend. I swear I thought I was going to die sunday night, felt like my lungs would collapse...as if I'd been inhaling a the hot insides of a car battery!. So I missed monday's concert I'd planned on attending.

I'm at a measly promenade 3 section N3

That was fantastic. I loved the fact that they performed newer material: it felt like a risky ROCK show. I'm glad they have the confidence to play like that.

I still don't think "Where's the Revolution" hits much...it's a great tune, but I'm just confused about the merit of the saying. If it's jaded or sincere, or laughable.

I agree the show did have a rock vibe but I appreciated it I love rock and guitar. I feel it worked. Although I have to admit I did want to hear more old school synth songs, just for nostalgic reasons. Where's The Revolution is a great tune, but I do feel they are coming from a sincere place for putting it out there. Maybe a little jaded only due to the fact that this world seems so lost and all of us people in it still cannot get our damn s*#t together, so the message while a good one, seems futile.

Good to hear you had a great time at the show, it was awesome. Depeche Mode always brings cool music to my ears!

^* I don't necessarily mean the instrumentation was like a ROCK SHOW... I mean to say.... I'm glad it was current, and bold, had different approaches to classic songs, and didn't rely on playing "The Greatest Hits"... That's what made it such a unique and special event.

a week prior I had deliberately avoided looking up setlists. Now that I saw them, I have; and they're surprisingly varied (about 4-5 songs per night)...

Particularly Martin's solo spot. I wish I was there when he sang "INSIGHT".. love that song.

i was in section n2...i didn' think the seats were too bad; and the sound there was incredible. no complaints here.

i was a little leary going in that this show was totally not going to be worth crossing the country for. they proved themselves though...i can't believe that a band i saw in their prime 25 years ago can still perform with such exuberance. dave's voice has aged a (very tiny) bit, but otherwise they have not lost a step at all.

i was very pleased to get to hear 'home'. it's one of my all time favorites. and it was pretty cool to hear martin sing 'sister of night'; i've always thought he should have sang it on the record...in fact, their set was very heavy on 'ultra' tracks, which suited me fine. i'm quite fond of that record.

i'm really hoping that a 4 night stand at the hollywood bowl is an indication of a concert film in production, as i would love to have a permanent keepsake of my trip. i just couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger on a forty-five fucking dollar tour shirt. $45?! c'mon...

By a stroke of luck, I got in and had an extra ticket. I sold it on craigslist to some gal who treated me to a ton of food and free booze. So in the end my generosity kinda paid off (despite missing 3 songs watching to get her the ticket)

I really love love loved that show. With all my favorites disappearing its becoming more and more imperative to enjoy these things
