Jerry Garcia, Elton John and Kurt Cobain Are Becoming Funko Pop!s Debra Filcman November 6, 2017 Ultimate Classic Rock
Add another set of music legends to the list of stars getting the Funko Pop! Rocks treatment. Jerry Garcia, Elton John and Kurt Cobain are becoming new figures in a line that will hit stores in January 2018.
The company's upcoming Pop!s honoring Garcia features the Grateful Dead frontman in his signature sunglasses and guitar. John, also known for his sunglasses and fashion statements, will appear in a white suite and hat with pink sunglasses and a cane, as well as in a red, white and blue suit with white glasses and a microphone. There will also be a glitter version of the singer in the latter outfit as an FYE exclusive.
The Nirvana frontman will be immortalized in three different figures: one featuring his familiar green and brown sweater and an electric guitar, another in a tan sweater and acoustic guitar (an FYE exclusive) and a third with Cobain in a black sweater and electric guitar, which will be a Hot Topic exclusive.
These are far from Funko's first set of famous rocker figures. Metallica received the honor earlier this year, as did Jimi Hendrix and the Ramones. Guns N' Roses were made into Pop!s late last year, along with Motörhead's Lemmy. The company has also put out figures featuring the Beatles, Ozzy Osbourne, the Sex Pistols, Kiss, Alice Cooper and Green Day. (We've also weighed in on other acts we'd like to see get the treatment.)
You can check out the new figures on the company's website.
You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton |
