Falco appreciation

Does anybody here know or remember FALCO? He's my favourite artist after Prince. Sadly the man died at the age of 40 (car crash). He was a musical genius, heavily influenced by David Bowie. He startet playing the piano at the age of 5, he could play like a pro biggrin. He learned to play guitar, bass and the drums all by himself. And he was very good, according to his bandmates. But when he became an addict, his talent suffered (In my opinion). He didn't produce himself anymore.

Most of will know his Hit "Rock me Amadeus", well I don't like that Song at all, since Falco didn't write it. I like his first record more. He could've been more succesfull if he didn't become an addict and kept procuding himself.

Here's an instrumental of his self produced Song Ganz Wien (That Scene).

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

as an Austrian I have to pop in here of course, heheh

he's not my fave musician of all time, but he had several truly good even outstanding songs (but also a lot of filler cuts and straight awful turkeys, his duets with Brigitte Nielsen or Desiree Nosbusch leading the awful bunch)

his debut and his second album ar still the best in my book

Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

I loved "Rock Me Amadeus", because of the plethora of remixes and narration in them. You couldn't get away from it. But I dig his version of "Der Kommissar" as much as I love After The Fire's version. I have a long time friend who has strong ties to his Germany, Austrian, and Bavarian roots. He latched onto Falco right away.

Ah. Don't be hating on Body next to body. It's a fun song, co-written and produced by Giorgio Moroder:

But yeah, you're right. Many great songs, but also many stinkers. And I'm saying this as a fellow austrian. Back in '86, my musical journey started with him when I first heard Jeanny.

Some of my faves, next to Jeanny, Junge Römer and of course Der Kommisar and Rock me Amadeus:

I couldn'f watch the movie to the end because I think there's no one who could play Falco.
