Artists should do ONE Holiday CD & that's it

Patti LaBelle
is releasing her 3rd X-mas album at the end of the month and nobody knows why...Why is she wasting people's time?....I really don't want to hear her sing Jingle Bells...If Patti's Holiday Album was gonna be LIVE I'd cut her some slack....It would make more since for her to do a pretend-Country Album..

Here's my Last Word on Holiday Albums..

1. One Holiday Album is fine

2. Two Holiday Albums is pushing it

3. Several Holiday Albums is too Damn much for anybody

1) *BECAUSE SHE GAVE INTO THE CORPORATE OVERLORDS AND ALLOWED HER NAME TO GRACE PIES THAT SHE SELLS IN HELLS BAKING ROOM AKA "WALMART"

SHE CUT THIS DEAL SO SHE COULD BENEFIT FROM *UNPRINCIPLED"* OR OTHERWISE RECORDINGS. ....original recordings

So

...being the genius that she is
.
.....people will pick up her pies and goodies without having given a damn about the "real lady marmalade"

She'll be generating STEADY INCOME THROUGH most likely PUBLIC DOMAIN catalogue songs.

Only she'll have paid people worthwhile to PERFORM on said album/albums.

Also

This will fulfill her need to have contributed something "spiritual" to the world without participating in the quick easy tricks and sells of corporate life.

Children will have heard HER VOICE and recognized or everywhere else when they've grown up.

Ifv there's a heaven ; she's surely been thinking about smiling down upon THAT.

God bless her.

*180 degrees different: it'll be sad if "A CHRISTMAS CORNUCOPIA" is the FINAL ALBUM released by ANNIE LENNOX in her lifetime.

I'd rather even hear her sing the menus to local valley restaurants and bakeries.

She's such a tasty dish

Johnny Mathis probably has 20 Christmas albums by now. razz Johnny is the one who really popularized both the Christmas & Greatest Hits albums. If they sell, why should anyone stop making them? Unlike regular albums, holiday records has a market every year. Like Nat King Cole & acts who are mostly forgotten otherwise on the radio like Burl Ives & The Waitresses can get some airplay each year. Same with Halloween songs.

sufjan stevens released the 5 disc set 'songs for christmas' in 2006 and then
the companion piece "silver and gold" with another 5 discs worth of tunes for
christmas. a lot of it is very good though, christmas or otherwise. there's even
a cover of prince's 'alphabet st' on there somewhere, so that tells you just how
strict the christmas theme was held onto for the last few discs lol

but yeah for most crooners who just do boring azz christmas albums as some
sort of lame cashgrab stocking filler, no, please, stop people. enough.

"Carol of St. Benjamin The Bearded One" is one of the finest Christmas songs I've ever heard, from any era.

That said, singers wouldn't make multiple Christmas albums if there weren't a market for it. Some of the biggest artists ever made more than 1: Sinatra, Crosby, Ella, etc. They wouldn't make them if they weren't profitable.

I'm not going to knock their holiday hustle. Sometimes you get a jewel or two out of them.

Not all new Christmas originals are bad, but most of the standards have been re-done to death.

I'd be on board with legislation banning all Charlie Brown Christmas covers. #letsnoopybe lol

I'd also favor a constitutional amendment banning any cover of Donny Hathaway's "This Christmas" or Stevie Wonder's "What Christmas Means To Me." #dointoomuch falloff

Whose time is she wasting? No one's making anyone listen to it. And those working on it are being paid. They can say no to a job and a paycheck if they're in that position in life. If no one wants to hear her sing "Jingle Bells" the solution is incredibly simple: don't buy it.

Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith have both done multiple holiday albums, and they're spectacular, esp MWS with his orchestral arrangements and instrumentals in between other songs. Mariah's two are pretty decent, too. No one's complained about those.

Chante Moore has a new Christmas CD and I was thinking of getting it.....until I read this info:

The Grammy nominated R&B singer/songwriter, TV personality and author delivers her very first Christmas album "Christmas Back To You". Destined to become an instant classic, Chanté sings perennial favorites like "Please Come Home For Christmas" and "Merry Christmas Baby" with a soulful sultriness. This album also includes original music such as "Christmas In LA" and "Santa Don't Sleigh" which brings a touch of the South's popular Trap music influences to the holidays. eek mad

I agree with the person who said they prefer "traditional" sounding Christmas albums (like
Nat King Cole).I don't wanna hear no trap-sounding Christmas music! Or a Christmas song with hip-hop beats.

...LOL...You need to stop...Johnny Mathis is the Voice of Life, he can do 100 Christmas Albums and I'll never judge him...

Patti did not record an Album for 10yrs becuz she was not signed to a Label..She was smart to start her own label with her son (who she Loves, but I think he's an asshole of a Partner, but that's her Life)....The fact that they have 4 Albums in the works is good..I give them props for trying out Jazz...They are gonna do a LaBelle Album..She's gonna do a 2nd Gospel Album, which is a waste of time because she can't deliver Patti Gospel vocals, but whatever.....Because she has two X-Mas Albums under her belt I feel she should have said No to the X-mas project...She should have gone with a Live Acoustic Album instead...

You get where I'm coming from? Patti is 73 and she should tackle Music she's never done as long as it feels right to her...She's a Veteran so she knows what she likes and what fits her matured voice...her team tries to push her out of her comfort Zone...That can be Good & Bad, but it's showbizness...

I like Johnny, that's how I know he has a lot of Christmas albums. He released his newest one a few years ago and also sang on a recent Dave Koz Christmas album.

Cheap Trick - Christmas Christmas

“We put up some Christmas trees in the studio, picked out songs we all loved and voila!” says the group’s Robin Zander of Christmas Christmas, out Oct. 20, 2017. Four months after releasing its last studio album, the band covers holiday classics from The Ramones to Chuck Berry and pens three original tracks.

Hanson - Finally It’s Christmas

Twenty years since their debut Christmas album, Snowed In, the brothers swing back just in time for the holidays. “[Snowed In] has resonated with so many as a part of their family tradition for two decades,” says the trio in a joint statement. Finally It’s Christmas arrives Oct. 27, 2017 with four original songs.
