This Generation's Duran Duran Is Back With A Killer Song! Been hearing this on my local rock station for some time now and it never gets old. If pop radio were worth anything...

I only clicked to find out who this generation's Duran Duran was. I was surprised to learn it was the Killers. I had no idea they were this generation's anything--or any generation's Duran Duran.
I have no idea what to do with either of these moments, but the whole "I'm the man come 'round" seems like it almost has to be a reference to Johnny Cash's "The Man Comes Around" and his delivery of the word fame in the phrase "Hall of Fame" seems a deliberate echo of Bowie's "Fame." Make of those things what you will.
Glad I clicked. I knew they had a new album coming, but I've mostly ignored them in the past, beyond what forced itself upon me way back when through the radio waves. I'd read articles, but not seek out the music. I do that with a lot of people. | |

Yeah in fairness the Killers are 15 odd years into their recording career at this point, that's Duran Duran circa the Wedding album or so. I think it's a great track, which I haven't thought about a new Killers song in a looooong time. [Edited 9/19/17 10:19am] | |

For what it’s worth, when I read “this generation’s Duran Duran,” I did immediately guess you were referring to the Killers. Despite my love of their debut and general affection for some of their subsequent work, that’s a pretty damning indictment of this generation.
