Should Pharrell pay some form of royalty to the Curtis Mayfield estate?/Curtis Bio available now... Seems he's well and truly stuck on singing a D-grade Curtis-lite catchy hook on every song he produces now be it with Snoop, Jay-Z, Busta...
On the subject of Curtis Mayfield, I've recently started reading his biography "People Never Give Up" by Peter Burns. It's no frills and factual style (like Uptown's Prince series) and being the only one regarding the man available is well worth checking out for fans. http://www.amazon.co.uk/e...64-4432663 From Amazon.co.uk. http://www.amazon.com/exe...ce&s=books From Amazon.com [This message was edited Sun Apr 13 9:50:10 PDT 2003 by Essence]

I think he should but the fact remains that he's good for a cheesy beat and will continue to make cheesy songs that you can't help but like.

Turn on your radio. You'll hear something he's done at least every 15 minutes.

For the longest time I had no idea who did the vocals in Jay-Z's "Give it to me." I actually thought it was Jay-Z himself. What with Pharrell singing in everybody's video these days I'm inclined to believe it was him. I also thought it was Jamie Foxx doing the vocals in Busta Rhymes' "Pass the Courvosier" (sp).

Pharrell is straight turning into the new Puffy. Every video every song there he is. It's like a freakin' "Where's Waldo". I actually dig the Neptunes production skills, but that lame-ass wanna-be Curtis Mayfield vibe Pharrell has going beats me down every time.

This guy is on every single black video on MTV, now your job Deja, if you choose to except it, is to find the Waldo known as Pharrell, and when you do, give him an ankle bite from the punk for me. And tell him to never work with Justin Timberbeak again. All you others say Hell Yea!!

I don't know if it's running in US but he's also doing the songs for the Nike adverts in the UK. The ones where a computer generated stickman betters experts in various sports...
