On the subject of Curtis Mayfield, I've recently started reading his biography "People Never Give Up" by Peter Burns. It's no frills and factual style (like Uptown's Prince series) and being the only one regarding the man available is well worth checking out for fans.

I think he should but the fact remains that he's good for a cheesy beat and will continue to make cheesy songs that you can't help but like.

For the longest time I had no idea who did the vocals in Jay-Z's "Give it to me." I actually thought it was Jay-Z himself. What with Pharrell singing in everybody's video these days I'm inclined to believe it was him. I also thought it was Jamie Foxx doing the vocals in Busta Rhymes' "Pass the Courvosier" (sp).

Pharrell is straight turning into the new Puffy. Every video every song there he is. It's like a freakin' "Where's Waldo". I actually dig the Neptunes production skills, but that lame-ass wanna-be Curtis Mayfield vibe Pharrell has going beats me down every time.
