jeff beck blow by blow

i just got a copy of jeff beck's blow by blow on cd. i had this on vinyl way back when. i believe it is from 1974 or 1975. i had forgotten just how good it is. i had always remebered it has my favorite of his solo stuff, but hadn't bothered to re-purchase it on cd after i got rid of all my vinyl in the late 80's. it is funky,

it rocks hard, and just when you don't expect it, it's melodically beautiful. it's high on my play list today and suggestion box for those daring souls in search of something old/new to them.

Jeff is my favorite guitar player.

For those who play guitar here you can learn a whole textbook of styles from Jeff Beck.

On 'Cause We've Ended As Lovers" he does volume swells, he picks sometimes towards the bridge or sometimes towards the neck for getting different tones.

A lot of Jeff's best playing hasn't been captured on record. He played some amazing stuff live in the "Truth" days. I heard some of it when Napster was around and it's amazing.

Even today he tries to push the envelope of trying new things on the guitar.

it's not that i forgot about it, i just forgot how good it was. back in the day, when i sold off all my vinyl, i had about 4500-5000 albums.

i had them in an up-stairs bedroom for years and when i moved them out to one of my first apartments, the floor had sunken about 3 inches along the wall where they were stacked. if i had stayed there for a few more years the floor probably would have collaspsed.

back in the seventies, there were used record stores in atlanta that sold used records for $2-$4 a pop. i would go in and spend $10-$15 a week on records. then in the 80's, i worked at record stores, so i had a pretty big collection, so to get everything i used to have is pretty much impossible.

at between $10-$17 a pop for cds, it is financially not possible for me get everything back, at least so far.
