In preparation for Madonna's new album, I present my personal "best of" collection for all the Org to behold.

4 discs. basically all US/UK/Jap singles, and notable non-single radio and club promos/hits.

each proper album gets 6 songs. fortunately, almost all of them have 6 singles or sort-of singles. Into The Groove counts toward LAV since it was on the German release. American Pie counts toward MUSIC since it's on the import. Die Another Day counts toward AL, since it's going to be on there. Sky Fits Heaven, beacause the remix appeared on the dance charts. Amazing, because it was a Euro promo. Forbidden Love is included ... well... to give BS 6 songs wink and because it was planned/rumored as a single twice: once for the BS album and later when it was included on STR.

the first 2 discs: Decade One (1982-1992)

DISC ONE
01. Everybody (edit)
02. Physical Attraction (edit)
03. Burning Up
04. Holiday (edit)
05. Lucky Star (edit)
06. Borderline (edit)
07. Like A Virgin
08. Material Girl
09. Crazy For You
10. Into The Groove
11. Angel
12. Gambler
13. Dress You Up
14. Love Don't Live Here Anymore
15. Live To Tell (edit)
16. Papa Don't Preach
17. True Blue
18. Open Your Heart
19. La Isla Bonita

DISC TWO
01. Where's The Party
02. Who's That Girl
03. Causing A Commotion (single remix)
04. The Look Of Love
05. Spotlight (edit)
06. Like A Prayer (7" version)
07. Express Yourself (7" remix)
08. Cherish (single fade)
09. Oh Father (edit)
10. Dear Jessie
11. Keep It Together (single remix)
12. Vogue (single version)
13. Hanky Panky
14. Justify My Love
15. Rescue Me (edit)
16. This Used To Be My Playground (edit)

11. Forbidden Love
12. I Want You (my own edit, 4:44)
13. You'll See (edit)
14. One More Chance
15. Love Don't Live Here Anymoe (soulpower radio remix edit)
16. You Must Love Me (single version)
17. Don't Cry For Me Argentina (miami mix edit)
18. Another Suitcase In Another Hall
19. Buenos Aires (world mix radio edit)

DISC TWO
01. Frozen (edit)

07. Beautiful Stranger (edit)
08. Be Careful/Cuidado Con Mi Corazon (w/ Ricky Martin: bumped in the event of 6th American Life single)
09. American Pie
10. Music
11. Don't Tell Me (edit)
12. What It Feels Like For A Girl (edit)
13. Amazing
14. Impressive Instant
15. Die Another Day (edit)
16. American Life (radio edit)

TO BE ADDED:
17. Hollywood

here's what i'd like to see:

3 discs of the hits (make them all the edits/single remixes), and NOT, i repeat NOT, just a repackaging of TIC and GHV2 ... i don't like either one of these sets.

1 disc of collected rarities: b-sides, soundtrack songs, compilation donations, etc.

1 disc of the higher quality outtakes: the 2 Stephen Bray LAP outtakes ("Love Attack" and "First Is A Kiss", that we've been hearing about for years), the ROL outtakes that are ciruculating, "By Alien Means" (if it exists, and please, let's not get into that debate), "No Entry" and "Throb" from Erotica... "Shake Your Head Let's Go To Bed" (with Ozzy)... "Warning Signs" & "Lies In Your Eyes" (Vision Quest outtakes)... "Working My Fingers To The Bone" & "Pipeline" & "Queen Of Misery" from True Blue... "Dog House" from I'm Breathless... the Babyface songs from ROL... "Love Won't Wait" and the other Shep Pettibone songs that were ditched in favor of the Bedtime Stories album... and several others that aren't springing to mind immediately...

as a seperate release, i'd like to see ALL over her concert videos re-issued on DVD in a collector's set (and individually). hopefully not as part of the box itself, to keep the price down, but as its own thing.

a 2-DVD of all of her videos to replace the 2 woefully incomplete collections out there at the moment...

and... hmmm... i dunno what else. anything on top of all of this would just be icing. but these are my demands. now get to it, Madonna lol

no word yet what it'll actually be. her personal assistant/manager answered some questions late last summer on the official Madonna site, and this was one of the things she talked about... at the time, she said hits, rarities, live stuff, videos, etc. the whole enchilada... but you know, these things change over time... and go on to be better than expected, or really watered down so as not to please anybody. so... we'll see. there's really been no word since then what is actually going to be on it.

It's really great Aaron, but where's 'Adore'?

And why isn't 'Where's The Party?' on the first disc?

Nice work! It's pretty perfect! I don't understand the inclusion of "Don't Stop," unless you just want it to be on there, but it's perfect, as always. Nice work!

I never knew it got play! Every Madonna album seems to have at least one non-single that gets play.

Yeah, I like that. A lot of times they start playing a 2nd song from the album after it first comes out and it ends up being a later single too like Keep It Together, Fever, etc. Janet gets that treatment too.

Yeah, "Where Are You Now" charted in the top 40 in Airplay. "And On and On," "You" and "Come On Get Up" got some play too.

And 'Throb' was played concurrently with 'That's The Way Love Goes' and later became a UK single.

well, as i stated ... this is a hits collection. Shoo-Bee-Doo was not only not a hit or single, but it's a horrible song. Gambler is also a horrible song, but it was a top 5 single in the UK. Think Of Me wasn't a single or hit. Where's The Party was a radio hit.

in a lot of markets, when the Bedtime Story single flopped WB started pushing Don't Stop for airplay. and then wanted that to be the 4th single, but Madonna said no... and did Human Nature. a lot of radio kept playing Don't Stop anyway...

I don't think that's true anymore. I put two and two together back in the day and assumed it was. It was mentioned as a possible single. And when I saw that footage of her fighting that CGI dragon in her komono, it looked like it was from the same time period. But I've heard since, that that was from some commercial or something. Dunno.

in fact, where I live, I never heard Human Nature on the radio once, but there were a couple of stations that played Don't Stop like it was the hot new Madonna hit at the top of the charts. and actually, to this day, i'm more likely to hear Don't Stop on at least one radio station here than i am to hear... say, Angel or Causing A Commotion... it's kind of neat. the hit that never was.

Spotlight was a Japanese single, it hit #3, i believe... it also garnered quite a bit of radio airplay in the US. Hanky Panky was a top 10 single in the US (top 5 in the UK), and Impressive Instant was officially remixed and was a pretty big club hit... so there razz biggrin wink

I think I might be able to field that. I remember an MTV special when Madonn was making "Take A Bow" and she invited Kurt Loder over. They had a really great interview talking about the album. In one clip, I kind of remember them playing what was probably "Sanctuary" (but could have been "Inside Of Me" or "Love Tried To Welcome Me". They showed a blurry black and white clip of Madonna that looked like it might have came from the photo session of "Bedtime Stories". It kind of looked like a rough music video but wasn't!

It is dissapointing to me that BS (tee hee) flopped becuase its such a great album. It was one of the first CDs I ever owned. Can I ask everyone, do they have the CD with the Madonna's photo upside down? Mine has her head right side up but I bought mine right away. Was this an intenal mistake becuase everytime I see it, the photo is upside down. I remember thinking it looked really bad for a record company to do something like that with a major artist and album. Does anyone even know what I'm talking about?
