interesting list.I,too, think that "Beat Goes On" should have been a single. It would have been the perfect follow-up to "4 Minutes".Warners really screwed that one up.

Beat Goes On should have been a single, is a very good song. Mer Girl is a masterpiece it deserves number one spot, although i don't think it had have any success in the charts. There are many other songs in her catalogue that deserved to be single. Among them, Sky Fits Heaven, I Deserve It, Skin, Beautiful Scars... and many others.

I'm making my list before referencing the article. In no order, for me:

Sky Fits Heaven or Little Star (Ray Of Light)

What Can You Lose (I'm Breathless)

Don't Stop (Bedtime Stories)

I'm A Sinner (MDNA)

Future Lovers (Confessions On A Dance Floor)

Honorable Mention: Where Life Begins (just a great ode to oral sex)

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

1. Incredible - Hard Candy. A nice edit of this track without the end breakdown would have been nice. It has a very melodic chorus and the lyrics are uplifting. The production is deamnding and aggressive and somewhat experimental.

2. I'm Addicted - MDNA. I am not sure why a song like "Give Me All your luvin" was even considered as an album track when songs like the engaging and irresistible track that harkens Confessions On A Dancefloor-like material exists on that album. I'm Addicted was also a great track performed on the MDNA Tour. A missed opportunity.

3. B
ody Shop - Rebel Heart. Again, "Bitch Im Madonna" gets a release but this indie r&b track gets pushed in the middle for some odd reason. This soulful and endearing track is ripe with melody and class. it is the "Something To Remember" - like Madonna we know and love. The lyrics are sexy but not shocking like Holy Water. The song was also performed on the tour and deserved a video.

4. Til Death Do Us Part - Like A Prayer. While I think they picked the right singles for LAP, Till Death would have been a great performance on the Blonde Ambition Tour. I was not a big fan of Dear Jessie. However this track struck a nerve with me. Its dark lyrics about spousal and emotional abuse over a lighthearted pop beat stopped me dead in my tracks.

5. Shoo Be Doo - Like A Vigrin. I think they picked the right inslg eoff this album too, however this track solely written by Madonna is such a great Motown sound gem hidden at the later half of the album. The soul and lighthearted lyrics about new love is cheesy, but fun. I play this song very often. It was liked enough by the company at least to appear as a B-Side to Dress U Up.

Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

Good choices, Body Shop is good as well as Til Death. Unlike you, i love Dear Jessie is very Jackson- ish lyrics and music. Another one that is good is Best Night, it seems to me there is a lot of intimacy and vulnerability in her performance.

I think these are some of Madonna's best non-singles....

"Falling Free" (from MDNA)

"To Have and Not To Hold" (from Ray Of Light)

"She's Not Me" (from Hard Candy)

"Til Death Do Us Part" (from Like A Prayer)

"Words" (from Erotica)

"Inside Of Me" (from Bedtime Stories)

"Gone" (from Music)

"Push" (from Confessions On A Dancefloor)

"Beautiful Killer" (from MDNA)

"Beautiful Scars" (from Rebel Heart)

Using the author's criteria, my favorites would be "Into the Groove" and "Drowned World/Substitute for Love," which weren't singles in the US. After that, definitely "Nobody's Perfect" and "To Have and Not to Hold," then probably "She's Not Me" and "Beat Goes On."

I haven't looked at the list yet, but if they aren't counting "Into the Groove" as a single, that'd be my #1 pick. I fully agree with paisleypark4 "Til Death Do Us Part" is a GREAT song. Also "Words," "Push," and "I'd Rather Be Your Lover." But there are so many more that could be mentioned.

I was about to say the same. A great song, it's a very obscure gem in her carreer.
