C'mawwn man!... quit taking the piss out of her. She might be having a very hard time in her life. I don't even like her music much but I still hope she fixes her $#!+ up soon before she becomes a statistic.
*once you consider the NFL Fans whose team ARENT IN THE SUPERBOWL you've got to realize that probably 4/5 of those people are either in it for the GAMBLING, or the stupid ass commercials.... with the remaining 1/5th being devotees of the SPORT; the most of which are young student athletes (before they realize the corruption/impossibility of the goal)

Marching bands also have band dancers (that are trained in jazz and modern dance). Marching bands at historical black colleges put on a great show. They dont just stand there and play instruments. The musicians move around and have choreography. Having a step show is a good idea too. [Edited 8/18/17 17:03pm]

mjscarousal said: I agree with most of the points that have already been said here. I think the NFL needs to drastically change the formula of half time shows and performers. Its gotten way to political and favoritism (like most things these days) and more about money than about the game itself. Having pop stars do half time has been overkill and predictable. The NFL should celebrate football culture and everything that makes a football game. I think they should bring back the marching bands. They should let college marching bands do it and band dancers. This could be a great opportunity to highlight the best ones in the country. There are SO many talented and entertaining college marching bands that could do half time BUT since the NFL is requiring performers to pay a fee to perform that hinders the participation of colleges and highschools cause they won't be able to afford it. The Super Bowl has already made its clout in being must see television, regardless of who is performing at half time. I think right now would be a good time to change up their formula and make it more entertaining and less predictable. Why would they have College marching bands in the SuperBowl? They have College games just below the level of the SuperBowl ajd their is multiple games over a long period of time. PRINCE: Always and Forever

Several of the professional acts have had marching bands as part of their halftime show (like Madonna) and in the 1980s bands were often the show themselves. At one time they had Broadway style performances at halftime like this You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I think Guns n Roses is a great suggestion. I love Bruno Mars, but he performed 2 years ago. Here are a few other suggestions: - Usher - Elton John - U2 - Earth Wind & Fire Live 4 Love ~ Love is God, God is love, Girls and boys love God above

Awesome choices. I'd love to see Wyclef. Just as long as we don't get stuck with that spoiled, delusional diva Mariah Carey. [Edited 8/20/17 6:48am]

SoulAlive said: has anyone suggested Mariah Carey? I would have enthusiastically suggested her a year ago, but after her NYRE debacle, I don't think anyone would want to see her doing a half-assed performance on the biggest stage ever. Also, she did a halftime performance during a Thanksgiving game several years ago when her Mimi album was out, and she just lipsynched through that.

The fact that we're considering acts like Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber shows that the well is running dry. Both are popular acts but they really don't fit the theme of the show (Sheeran especially) but like I said, Coldplay didn't either yet they performed.

Usher has already done the Super Bowl. He did it with the Black Eyed Peas But he has the hits to do the Super Bowl and he is a great performer. I am not sure why he wasn't asked to headline but then again maybe he was. There are a lot of big stars that are asked that choose not to do it (i.e. Adele, Rihanna)

College and highschool marching bands were the half time performances before MJ changed that. Now half time is a star spectacle but I think it would be great for them to bring it back and switch up the format.

that halftime show needs to be canned......
entertainers have enought venues and enough award shows and tours to do their thing.
they need to talk about 1st half highlights for 10 minutes, reflect on past superbowl moments the next 10 minutes, and let a local high school marching band perform the last 10 minutes...that'll cover the 30 minutes of halftime before the second half starts......
the NBA all star weekend needs to revamp their lineup too because this year's events and the actual game were awful

^ I did too. I watched it for the first time a few days ago and I think they did a very good job. I was actually impressed with how entertaining it was. Usher did good too but I have seen him do better performances of OMG. This performance of OMG is more futuristic and not as sloppy. This would have been a better fit for their Super Bowl theme.
Usher is a good live performer. He actually sings live while he dances. I am not sure why he is always a feature and never the headliner or main act.

Why would they get rid of something that's been there since the beginning? It's not like the NFL added it recently. Athletes have gone into entertainment making records and acting. Kareen Abdul Jabbar was in a Bruce Lee movie and was Arnold's teacher on Diff'rent Strokes. Muhammad Ali starred in a stage play and a biopic about himself. Shaq released some rap records and Jordan had a whole movie Space Jam and others have done Dancing With The Stars. So why don't you tell them to stay out of entertainment. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Most of the athletes who do dancing with the stars are retired lollll
Kareem already had a background in martian arts before he filmed Game of Death with Bruce Lee....
Michael Jordan while filming Space Jam had built a basketball gym and weighlifting section on the movie set to get ready for the upcoming season and he played the part as a basketball player
and yes, Ali did a biopic starring as himself, so it was more like a documentary than anything else....
NFL ratings took a plunge last year and the more they turn it into an entertainment spectacle the ratings will continue to drop just like in the NBA......

Perhaps people are not as interested in football, especially since those reports about concussions over the last few years. Football fans will watch it whether or not there's a halftime show. That's like saying people won't watch a TV show because there's commercial interruptions. Football is entertainment in the first place, why do you think people watch it? Why do you think people watch guys beat up each other with boxing & MMA, they're entertained by it. ESPN means "Entertainment & Sports Programming Network" and WWE is "World Wrestling Entertainment". Anyway things drop in popularity after awhile. There used to be a lot of soap operas on weekday TV, now there's 3 or 4 left. The nighttime soaps like Dallas & Dynasty have been replaced by endless cop shows like CSI Bedrock . Rock music is not as popular on Top 40 as it was pre 1990s. Fewer people buy CDs. Video rental places like Blockbuster went out of business. There used to be movies of the week on the 3 main networks starring Markie Post or somebody. They're gone or on cable TV. MTV had to change their format to keep viewers because their ratings started to drop when they were still showing music videos. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
