He played the guitar riff on this song, which has been sampled on several rap songs You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Rest in peace, Wichita Lineman. We as a whole felt this day was coming soon. He battled his diagnosis bravely.

Such a long ordeal. Such a long way out. I hope he was spared the pain of all that....or at least mildly drugged... [Edited 8/8/17 14:54pm] ♫"Trollin, Trolling! We could have fun just trollin'!"♫

Glen Campbell, had a heck of a run... may Mr. Campbell RIP.
Mr. Campbell was one of my favorites guitarist and I'd put him up their with Charlie Christian, Wes Montgomery, and Jim Hendrix. A guitarist, guitarist. The man always had aw-shucks about his skill as a guitarist. In my humble opinion, Mr. Campbell Variety Show was in the top 5 of the best Variety shows on TV.
Heard about his death when I was driving home, they started playing Wichita Lineman and I knew he was gone, My scondolences to his family and friends.
From Mr. Campbell's YouTube (Vevo) account....

I am a lineman for the county
Note: Mr. Campbell gave an interviewed to CBS, Sunday Morning shortly after he'd announced he had been diagnosed with altemizhers. I'm certain they'll do an encore of that interview in Glen's memory.

He was so great, and such a part of my childhood country music phase. He transcended the genre in so many ways. He left with dignity and a bang. He's was a brilliant artist. What a life. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Glen was a great singer and very talented guitarist. He also crossed over from Country into the mainstream. By the Time I get to Phoenix is IMO his best song. Also Gentle on my Mind, Wichita Lineman, Southern Nights the list goes on. So sad he had to battle Alzheimer's but if there's any solace he is at peace now and no longer suffering. RIP Glen and thank you for the great music, you will be greatly missed [Edited 8/9/17 10:55am]

Presleys and the Campbells in 1970 at a friend's wedding. Glen played rhythm guitar on Viva Las Vegas. Truly blessed musician and a favorite of mine. A few years ago I got his greatest hits(3CD set). I was watching a studio session Doc on youtube in which he was featured recently. Rest. Just Music-No Categories-Enjoy It!

If Alzheimer's hadn't knocked him out of the game, Glen would still be out there performing like Kris Kristofferson is, who is the same age of 81. Ironically, Kris thought he had Alzheimer's until recently when it seemed that a medication was causing the symptoms if I recall corrrectly...
