Why? They are my favorite male vocal group.Notably,a young Michael Jackson said that they are his favorite vocal group, too. There is just something really special and mesmerizing about their Thom Bell-produced songs....lush,string-laden classics with amazing vocal harmonies."Hey Love" has got to be the sexiest slow jam ever!

For me, I would choose The Dramatics. WYSIWYG and In The Rain have an extra strong serving of depth to them as opposed to The Delfonics wonderful doo wop songs which would work as the calming effect on the hype Fuck Yeah of WYSIWYG. [Edited 8/8/17 18:53pm] Jeux Sans Frontiers

Ann & Nancy Wilson from Heart put out a book a few years ago. Ann said in the early 1970s one of the members of The Delfonics tried to hit on her for a date. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

This is tough, I have to go with the Delfonics. The Dramatics are great too but arguably the Delfonics had more success outside of the US. Interestingly both groups had a similar trajectory. Maybe they should make a Delfonics vs Dramatics album like the one the Drams did with the Dells back in the day.

Both bands are great but I got to go with the Delfoniccs. They had more classics and their harmonies and productions were unique. [Edited 8/10/17 12:03pm]

Both groups are in my top 5 from that era, but I would have to go with the Dramatics. They can do more IMO. The Dramatics could have recorded Didn't I Blow Your Mind but I can't see the Delfonics doin Watcha See. They have 5 lead singers. Delfonics were probably more influential. In the Rain does not happen if not for Delfonics PRINCE: Always and Forever

They both had their vocal strengths but I couldn't see the Dramatics singing a song like Didn't I Blow Your Mind which is a song meant for tenors or sopranos. The Delfinics had a more polished and angelic vocal sound that went well with those Philly soul productions

the Delfonics have been very influential."Ready Or Not" was re-made by the Fugees and even Prince covered them ("La La Means I Love You").I also remember the Jackson Five covering "Can You Remember".Another Delfonics song that's been covered a lot: "Didn't I Blow Your Mind This Time".

I love the Dramatics too ("In The Rain" is one of the finest R&B songs ever)

oR the 1968 TEMPTATIONS hit song by a similar name about a similar thing... almost in a similar style.
But LITTLE BLUE CORVETTE... you're absolutely right... DRAMATICS could do some that the Delfonics could likely not. [Edited 8/11/17 8:57am] ♫"Trollin, Trolling! We could have fun just trollin'!"♫

Delfonics. Wooh those vocals. There was something special to them just like The Moments. IMO they are one in the same almost underground giants of the Soul Sound. Dramatics were cool, but something was just more genuine and intimate with the Delfonics.

Both are legendary groups... but I'm partial to the Delfonics because they laid the foundation for just about everyone else. But the Dramatics have some serious hits too! Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!

They're rigtht along with Delfonics and Dramatics and the Dells. I'm not sure where I'd rank the Spinners though. At that top tier level with Temps, Tops and O'Jays or a tier right below with Delfonics and Dramatcs??? PRINCE: Always and Forever
