Hey babynoz. Yeah, mothers are great. I really miss mine. And as i mentioned, my mom loved her some bobby bland. My dad got her into the blues. She was a fan of a lot of them cats. BB King, Z.Z Hill, Albert King, Buddy Guy, etc. Actually she's the one who got me into the Blues. When i was younger i didn't really like it. It sounded too old fashioned for my young ears. That pretty much changed when i grabbed my mom's copy of There Must Be a Better World Somewhere, by B.B King. That album was bluesy, but it wasn't too bluesy. It fit perfectly for what i was into. Still to this day i love that album. Especially the songs More, More, More, and Born Again Human.
And Bobby Bland. Besides Barry White, he was my mom's favorite. I can just imagine(don't wanna) what kinda thoughts she had about them two...

Hey babes! Gotta let mama have her fun too!
It was actually my grandmother who loved blues. My mom was deep into bebop.
I think the song that hooked me was Stormy Monday.
Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

I hear you. Mothers are people too.
My mom wasn't into old school Jazz but she definitely was into Smooth Jazz. She couldn't hang with the Bop, though.
As Far as Stormy Monday, and Blues in general. I started off light(the album that i mentioned), and once i got somewhat acclimated, lyrically, to what the blues was about, and that actual blues sound, then i branched out more. And that branching out included other artist and songs. Including Stormy Monday.
I can't sit here and say that the blues is my favorite genre of music, because it isn't. I can say though, that i really respect the genre, and truly enjoy listening to some blues artist. Especially now that I'm dang near 50.
