She received her first nomination for the Rock Hall last October.

Tori 's thoughts on the new album:

"The songs on
Native Invader are being pushed by the Muses to find different ways of facing unforeseen challenges and in some cases dangerous conflicts. The record looks to Nature and how, through resilience, she heals herself. The songs also wrestle with the question: what is our part in the destruction of our land, as well as ourselves, and in our relationships with each other?

In life there can be the shock of unexpected fires, floods, earthquakes, or any cataclysmic ravager - both on the inside and outside of our minds. Sonically and visually, I wanted to look at how Nature creates with her opposing forces, becoming the ultimate regenerator through her cycles of death and re-birth. Time and time again she is able to renew, can we find this renewal for ourselves?"

I got tickets for both NY shows yesterday. Even though Tori's last few albums don't move me as much as her 90s releases, she has always been incredible live.

Seeing her at the MGM Theatre, listed there as DC although it's actually in MD.

The new single is good. The guitar on it reminds me of the Beatles.

You're right: the song is quite good. She's poetic in her approach to lyrics. The guitar and the bridge itself are Beatlesque.

Probably because she doesn't deserve mention. She's not inherently rock or roll, and is more along brooding swingy alt confessional musings.

Kinda like Joni Mitchell without the lyrical talent

just like UG i think there's absolutely beautiful songs on here again,
but she should really work with an outside producer and get some
of her former musicians back into the studio, the guys who were on

PELE and CHOIRGIRL.

these days it's all programmed drums (very cheap sounding ones),
her husband on lousy guitar, and her daughter on guest vocals.

at least she seems to have found her way back to writing songs with
an actual melody again, and she doesn't stretch every second word
out for what seems like 17 syllables. i'm pretty confident that Fori is
almost gone.

so perhaps the NEXT album will be all good? although, she seems to
be very content with making albums the way she's doing now.

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps
