Lorde's new LP Melodrama

I am enthralled with Lorde's new CD. I think it is much better than her debut, though I liked that one too. This one really is more of an album with every song being vital but no song being an obvious single. Her writing, voice, and creativity are in full force, as she captures what it is like to move into early adulthood the way she captured being an adolescent in her debut. The songs Liability and Writer in the Dark seem like standouts after two listens but I imagine this will change as all the songs are good. IMO, she is a force to be reckoned with if she doesn't self-destruct.

Who else has listened to it? Curious about your thoughts?

I'm enjoying it, maybe not as much as the first album, but it's still sounding great. I agree, I think she's gonna be huge.

Got tickets yesterday to see her at Alexandra Palace. biggrin

Good to hear that someone else here is enjoying it. I was feeling alone until I noticed it is among the best reviewed albums of the year per metacritic as well as the projected #1 album. Despite being so different from Prince, I do think they both choose artistry over commercialism for the most part.

i like it a lot. loved all the 'singles' from it so far and the other songs i'm
only just getting used to. it's going to be hard to top the instant classic
feel of some of the songs on 'pure heroin', but it's already one of only a
very few albums so far this year that i can say i'll be listening to a year
from now.

Your right about how hard it is to follow a breakthrough classic. So many of those are followed by the solphmore (2nd album) slump. That is what so impressive about this album. It is really good yet different. I be curious to hear what you think after several months. I think it might just be a grower.
