I'm always interested in concerts openings. When i saw the opening of the formation tour in YT i knew i had to be there. I think the huge box of the videoscreens really put stagesettings to another level.

To see it live was magical.

So what are according to you to best concert openings?

Beyonce is even more overrated to me now after watching that. She is extremely overrated. I would never pay money to see her live. That big video projection was to hide the empty seats behind and around the stadium (that is what happens when you hold a arena size show at a stadium). I agree with the choice of venue, but I'm not a fan of stadium concerts anyway.

I did notice the energy was a little off. It's because the place is too damn big for a concert like this.

Prince!!

When I saw Prince , hun it was an amazing experience, the closest I would ever get to MJ but close enough , I was blown away and feel blessed I got a chance to experience greatness in my lifetime.

Im SO sorry you didn't get a chance to see him He lives in all our hearts and we still got his music and footages to look at. I was hurt and depressed for a long time after MJ passed as well, hugs.

I do not like her music, but Beyonce is a really good entertainer. If I didn't disdain the concert
going experience, I would pay just to experience her live shows and see what the fuss is all about!

Foo Fighters opening with All My Life ... no fancy video screens needed, no dry ice, stupid outfits, or crazy stages ... just a group of muscians beating the sh*t out of their instruments and 90,000 fans going ballistic. You can't top that.

It's simply a metter of her peers (Except for P!nk) being mediocre.

Her music isn't really better than her peers but a lot of them have either lost their abilities or are just very mediocre entertainers.

Ahhh ... so the intro to the show would be Taylor Hawkins walking to his drumkit ...

I suppose that's more theatre than music. I guess my personal fave would be the disco ball intro to Madonna's Confessions Tour. A Madonna show gets a huge reaction anyway, because its her and her fans go mental when she (eventually!) comes on stage. That was a great album and tour though so the intro seemed to have even more anticipation, and it just worked really well with Future Lovers as a track.

i think this 'intro' is boring and actually ugly: a box making a round?? I was like 'is it over yet'??

I saw some great intro's, by Bowie by Prince, and actually by Madonna in a disco ball.

I agree with this post, that is exactly what it is.

I just think its weird though how overrated she is because people hype her up like Michael Jackson or Madonna never existed. That opener was boring as hell. The only ones raving about it are all Beyonce stans in this thread. I know people who have gone to her shows afterward felt she is overrated and they said the shows weren't sold out and you can see that based on those photos posted on social media.

I came in here to respond to a thread and I responded accordingly giving my opinion on the OPs claim about "the best tour opener". I am allowed to give my opinion and I did. I don't owe you anything other than that. I mentioned Michael in my post when it came to best tour openers because I know what a real tour opener is and seen some of the best. I am not taking the bait.

Ahhh ... such great memories! I remember seeing this at Wembley Arena, my first ever Madonna concert after being a fan for so many years. She was doing the whole "turn the air con off 'cos I want it sweaty like a nightclub" thing and the crowd really got in to it, on their feet from start to finish.

I was so desperate to see the show again, I almost dropped some serious cash on a taxi for me and my sister all the way to London the following Wednesday, taking us there and back as it was the only way we could get there in time after work. The show was the night of M's birthday, would have been a great show ... common sense prevailed and I saved my money, but if I had my time again ...

I've never had the chance to see her in person... Too much money. However for some reason this one came to mind when I think of great dvd concert openings along with Michael's two minute pose at Bucharest... Of which Janet also copied on her VR Tour. I loved her outfit too it fit her image.

Yeah, she is pricey. The only two acts I spend big money on are Madonna and Prince (or did do ). As a hardcore fan its always worth it to me. Some of the best nights of my life have been at their shows, but I can understand why others are put off.

Shame you missed the Rebel Heart tour though, that was M's best since Confessions, a really fun show with lots of highlights.
