btw only on Ray Of Light is there a song that can f*ck with Oh Father imo.

and which song would that be? Oh Father doesn't do it for me anymore. It's not even top half Madonna songs.

shocked

You shouldn't be surprised. It's never been a favorite. It seems self-pitying and a bit of reverse cruelty to her father. I'm glad that they've patched things up because she was much too bitter for that age.

I just can't understand not liking this song, that's all. smile I see it as Madonna coming to past with her former demons, exorcising them on record. It's Madonna's most haunting song.

It is beautiful. And I could understand it when it came out, because I had similar issues. Especially with mom. But now that I've grown up, and so is she, we've moved past those feelings.

I love Cherish and Dear Jessie. Anybody remember the video for Dear Jessie? They probably might show on VH1 Classic or something.

I think it was the b-side of Oh Father.

On the album it was listed as Spanish Eyes

On the single it was Pray For...

I prefer the First Album&Bedtime Stories the Best overall from Her iMHO.I think ""Like a Prayer"&A couple other songs from that Album are tight but on a hold that Album ain't with this Two I dig overall more.but "Like a Prayer" is Arguably if Not Her Greatest Single then Right up there for me.

I love it when people not only love certain things, but "ARE" those things. It took years of convincing for my good friend Kate to finally realize that she, in fact, is "Sign 'O' The Times". Now she gets it.

I always liked Like A Prayer but loved both "Erotica" and "Bedtime Stories". I felt like "Like A Prayer" had some excellent tunes (the title track, "Express Yourself", "Cherish" and "Oh Father" are some of the best pop songs ever) but I find of tire of some stuff like ""Til Death Do Us Part" (too fast and even boring). If LAP had "Supernatural Love" on there, it might have been her best album but I think it might be "Bedtime Stories" which is just as underrated as "Erotica" if not more. The non-single songs were sometimes better than the singles. "Survival" is one of my all time favorite Madonna tracks. I would have loved "Erotica" if it weren't for "Did You Do It". A poor semi-remix doesn't belong on the unedited verison of masterpiece. I actually owned the edited verison then sold it and bought the unedited one just for that stupid song. Boy, was that a mistake! Other than that, was there anything different on the CD?

"Fever," "Did You Do It?," "Love Tried to Welcome Me" and "I'd Rather Be Your Lover" are all bad songs, but "Like a Prayer" has none, in my opinion.

i've always felt that Like A Prayer was her most real recording. Promise to Try...i don't think she's ever been that vulnerable on record since. I love ray of light, but i can't shake the feeling that it's not quite as honest. Madonna was realizing her power in the world when she made like a prayer and i think it shows in the material. But, ray of light does have little star and mer girl...that shit is great! i just wish she would back off of this trendy bleep-buzz-biirrr thing she's on. where is the madonna that tries new things?

This song gives me shivers.I remember buying the 'Ray Of Light' CD the day it came out, playing this one song over and over and over.It is a breathtaking song.Madonna hits some incredible notes during the part where she says...

"no one night stands,no far off land,no fire that I can spark"

That one part just drives me crazy!!

mine too. it's the only one that's ever actually touched me in a personal way; the only one i could relate to exactly as it is, without interpreting it or overlaying it onto my own experience trying to make it fit and mean something to me.

Yup! Drowned World is definately my all time fave Madonna song...and that final part, the build up, it's just too perfect IMO...

I really like this album. It's one of the first ever cd's
I got. Lovesexy was the first, back in 1988 and this was
the 4th or 5th when it came out in 1989. The booklet still
smells very faintly of lavender.

I always liked it, first for the music and later when I
learned better english I appreciated most of the lyrics
too. It seemed much more of an attempt at creating a real
and honest, solid album than any of her previous albums.
Although, "Like a Virgin" is a very good one too.

But I'm also inclined to think "Erotica" and perhaps also
"Ray Of Light" are better. But perhaps that's just because
they contain some of my fav all time songs of Madonna, ie

"Rain", "WhereLifeBegins", "Waiting", "Frozen", "MerGirl".

Still, as far as complete albums go, I feel LikeAPrayer is
her best album indeed. Yes.

Love like a Prayer, that's probably in my mind her best as well. Bedtime Stories is very underrated, indeed. It's right up there with her best work. Her first two albums are also very good, as is Ray of Light.

However...I don't really understand the love for Erotica. There's some good material on it, but it just seems a little too long. There are four or five pretty weak tracks on there, in my opinion.

Favorite Maddy song: Bad Girl, LOVE IT!! The video is killer too...

She did an acoustic performance of Little Star on Oprah, that's what made me buy the album. What I would give to get my hands on that!! Great song biggrin

And "Oh Father" is kickass nod

Ray of Light is the only album of hers I have boxed everything else is singles or best of's... sad
