80's Flashback -Jerry Knight - Overnight Sensation/ Breakin-There's No Stoppin Us ...
I found myself listening to some classic 80's Jerry Knight stuff this weekend--
...
A multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter, Jerry Knight was originally the bassist in Raydio, with Ray Parker Jr, with Jerry singing lead vocals on "Jack and Jill". He left after Raydio's first album, and pursued a solo career, and had R&B hits like "Overnight Sensation", "Perfect Fit" and " Got To Be A Dancer". He then teamed up with drummer Ollie Brown to form the duo Ollie and Jerry--they had a hit with soundtrack to the movie ""Breakin",and the song, "Ain't No Stoppin Us".... ....

Thanks, these songs really bring back great memories, I love those Breakdance films from the 80s and the soundtracks are classics I had them on cassette. [Edited 5/21/17 21:26pm] Keep Calm & Listen To Prince

Yes, indeed! I definitely remember Jerry Knight. As a kid, I loved "Overnight Sensation" and "Perfect Fit." Even his stint as part of the duo Ollie & Jerry. He was the truth. I, too, agree that Knight never got his just dues. His work behind the scenes is just as celebrated. Knight had a big hand in the Whispers' hit "Tonight." Cool thread. Thanks.

I agree with you about Knight--I always thought he should have gotten more play back then. He was playing with Bill Withers before Ray Parker asked him to be in Raydio...
Interesting side point (or maybe not), I also read that Ray Parker Jr said in interview that "Jack and Jill" was about Jerry Knight and his wife...
