Sam Smith, Eminem & Bruno appreciate Black Artists that came before them. Hip-Hop/Soul music influenced them and you hear it and feel it in their music...All three are very vocal about it....They're cool with crossing over to Black Radio but that's where it ends..

Eminem, Sam and Bruno do not want to be embraced by Black Music Award Shows...They don't want Soul Train Awards, NAACP Image Awards, BET Awards and so on....Propers to The BET Awards for adding diversity into their categories and performance lineup...

What are you talking about? Bruno just tweeted about the nominations and he said it's a big honor.

Listen, you can say all you like about the Eminems and Sam Smiths and Macklemores and the Adeles... Bruno doesn't even care about what kind of music he makes or how he's labeled... The whole creative proccess he's involved in emphasizes on one thing and one thing only: feeling. If it feels good, then he'll release it, whether it's rock or pop or jazz or R&B.

Great for him, i love his music and his persona.

I agree that Mary J Blige and Fantasia aren't alternative... but there is something called alt R&B music, as well as alt rock... Alt R&B is basically unconventional R&B song structures/songwriting/instrumentation... like Frank Ocean or FKA Twigs (who are extreme alt R&B), to a lesser degree Miguel, SZA, Tinashe, Janelle, Weeknd's earlier stuff. It is to the 2010s what neo soul was to the 90s.

But it is popular I might say, Spotify is FILLED with alt R&B playlists, even Drake's albums have that sort of mellow, psych R&B vibe.
