Nicki Minaj Most Surpasses Aretha With Most Top 100 Billboard Single Entries

Minaj debuts with three tracks, upping her count to 76 career Hot 100 entries, besting the Queen of Soul's 73. Nicki Minaj makes history on the Billboard Hot 100, as she passes Aretha Franklin for the most total appearances among women in the chart's 58-year history.

Minaj debuts three songs (on the Hot 100 dated April 1): "No Frauds," with Drake and Lil Wayne (No. 14), "Regret in Your Tears" (No. 61) and "Changed It," with Lil Wayne (No. 71). Minaj ups her count to 76 career Hot 100 entries, surpassing Franklin's career output of 73. Franklin had held the mark for the most Hot 100 visits among women all to herself for nearly 40 years: from June 18, 1977 (when "Break It to Me Gently" debuted as her 54th appearance, lifting her ahead of the prior record-holder among women, Connie Francis) through March 11, 2017.

Minaj matched Franklin at 73 charted titles apiece on the March 18 tally, when "Make Love," with Gucci Mane, debuted. All three of Minaj's latest songs were released on March 10, and debut in the top 15 of the Digital Song Sales chart: "Frauds" flies in at No. 2 with 79,000 first-week downloads sold in the week ending March 16, according to Nielsen Music; "Regret" bows at No. 10 (39,000); and "Changed" enters at No. 13 (35,000). The tracks also sport first-week totals of 12.1 million, 4.4 million and 4.8 million U.S. streams, respectively, in the tracking week.

Here is an updated count of the female soloists with the most charted Hot 100 entries dating to the ranking's Aug. 4, 1958, inception (though the chart dated April 1).

My first thought was how many of those 76 entries are actual solo performances versus features?

-

My next thought was, What the hell is Miley Cyrus doing that high on that list?

lol

Wow. I didn't know Nicki Minaj had that many songs, let alone charted with that many. I think I could probably name 2, though one of those she just features on and is not the main "artist".

I know charts don't matter, and if any proof was ever needed, this is it, but at the same time it's still a sad state of affairs to think that of all the great female artists there's been, Nicki Minaj, of all people, has the record for most chart appearances.

More than half of these are features. With that said, the way Billboard keeps records now and days it's no surprise. And it took her all of what 7 years.

Take a look over on the male side. I think Drake and Lil Wayne are both 1 and 2 all-time.

Word? That's depressing. Although you don't have to have a "Hit" record to just make an appearance (such as charting no higher than 100 or 99), but this is still bad.

Congratulations to Nicki Minaj but Aretha Franklin still holds the crown because she accomplished her feat when the industry had far better musical competition and it wasn't as easy for a song to chart on Billboard. Look at the quality of songs that Aretha charted with versus Nicki Minaj.

lowkey

this has to be one of the most useless stats in billboard history. first of all she has credit for songs she may have rapped one verse on, these days every song on an album is allowed to chart at the same damn time because of steaming, and lastly a song can peak at #99 and its still considered a hot 100 entry.

Absolutely sad and an indictment on how low the quality of chart music has soared. This skank says "Yo yo, I have a pussy, I love to suck dick motherfucker" on some shitty rap song that spends 1 week at 98 on the Hot 100 and the bitch has another hit.

.

This is why the average IQ of people is getting lower. The global IQ in 1970 was 91, now its 87 and will be 83 by 2050. The blame can be laid at a tide of anti intellectualism caused by poor attitudes towards formal education, the decline of high IQ populations and the explosion of low IQ ones. Not racial, but people from humbler backgrounds (Working class, poor, lack of high school education, freer attitudes and low value of sex) are having more children than high IQ people (Tertiary educated, well off and upper class) are having less. All my working class cousins are popping babies out at a rate of knots, whereas I will have none.

.

I doubt Nicki Minaj has an IQ higher than 85 - 88. Most of these other shit hoppers, slutty R and B singers, rappers and sexified singers will have IQs under 90. Even acts like Britney Spears, Beyonce and Katy Perry hardly espouse intellectual capacity.

.

Society is dying as we worship morons like the Kardashians and Justin Bieber. Th world is fucked. In 5000 years time we will be at the mental level of chimps.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I see it differently. You say that this is why the average IQ is getting lower. I say that this stuff is popular BECAUSE the average IQ is getting lower. I suppose it's a chicken and egg situation. smile

Songs where someone is the featured artist shouldn't count.

That is true. But everything is screwed up now that it wouldn't even matter. Back in the day, only a single could make the charts. So, it had to be officially released as a single or it couldn't chart. Now, every track on a CD can chart just from airplay alone. So Drake's new album that just came out last week. DOn't be suprised if all 22 tracks end up on the the Billboard 100.

You could say Nicki has a machine behind her (no pun.)
Cash Money has the female with most Billboard top 100 and the top 2 males (Drake and Lil Wayne.)

And how many will have the impact of even the worst Aretha song.....NONE! These numbers are pure meaningless now. It's like the thing with Drake and MJ etc...talking about HYPE about nothing.

I think the machine is more likely to be in her. She must be sucking a lot of anacondas and mambas to stay on top.

It's unfortunate underserving individuals are obtaining all these records over truly classic artists. They need to seperate these chart records to Pre internet and Post internet.

Exactly she is already 34, a granma and nearly a great granma in her hood ass mentality (Where 12 year old Shamikas have babies every 12 years, as soon as they have working parts Darnell or Marquise be rappin to them - "Yo yo bitch, I hope you took the pill, cos I won't pay the bill yo".

.

34 is like 238 in the rap community, in 10 years she will be 44 and just look tried unless she is dead from her butt injections exploding or a drug overdose.

.

She is the skankiest of skanks and most ho ass of hoes, she has NO musical talent, then none of these shit hoppers can do anything musical except take drugs, shoot guns, fuck and swear along to a machine pumped beat. That is not music.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name
