Kiss - Dynasty Any thoughts on this album? I just downloaded it and really like it. It's funky and fun. I heard their fans hated it when it first dropped. Charisma is a really cool track.

You're not gonna find many KISS fans on the org....but I loved the "Dynasty" album. "Sure Know Something" and "Magic Touch" are good songs.."Dirty Livin" sounds like it could have been the theme for a late 70's police action show. The older diehards hated it but the young-uns who loved the merch and KISS movie liked it..My first rock concert too.

When I mentioned to him that I downloaded that album he laughed. He said that it's such a sellout album lol. I think it's funky in a way.

Yeah..It's got some groove to it. It fit right in to what Rod, The Stones and other rock bands were trying to cash in on.

Sure know something, I was made for loving you and Magic Touch are all great songs. The rest, while not as good, is still quite solid. Well, maybe the 2 Ace songs and the 1 Gene song fall a bit off, but still not bad. All in all a really enjoyable album.

I think it's a great album, but then again, I didn't get into Kiss until fairly recently. "Magic Touch" is my favorite, followed by "Hard Times" and "2,000 Man." The only song I don't like on the album is "Dirty Livin'."

I was very surprised to read that Gene Simmons sings that one. Very funky.

I think Dynasty is cool for what it is. Sure Know Something is probably my favorite and made me realize that if you take away all the stupid inneundo Paul (and $immon$ especially) are guilty of putting into their work, they're actually good songwriters, especially Stanley. Dirty Livin' is awesome too, even if Peter Criss is a total doucher. The Ace songs rock as well, but Ace Frehley is a total G. Get in your mouse, and get out of here!

I was a huge Kiss fan when this album came out. I wouldn't say the fans all hated it but it was not the home run we were hoping for. . 1978 was the year of the Phantom movie and the solo albums which nobody was very happy with (except for Ace's). It felt like the band was losing the plot especially since the string of albums before it - Destroyer, R&R Over and Love Gun - was about the best they ever did. Dynasty finally came out & didn't have enough of what we wanted. Some Kiss fans were definitely anti disco. We had put up with their experiments on the solo records but it was time for a real killer boogie rock album full of hits and we didn't quite get it. . They were still popular but you could feel it was starting to change. They advertised four shows at Madison Square Garden but only did two and the one I went to was not sold out. I read that most other cities they were expecting to do two arena shows and could only sell enough tickets for one, so they had huge production costs and less ticket money than expected. . I like some things on it but don;t really listen to it anymore. I guess my interest in Kiss today kind of cuts off after Ace's solo album. But at the time I did like it, listen to it a lot, played I Was Made For Loving You every time I saw it on a jukebox. And that show at the Garden was excellent. Nice capes! As a kid I saw them on the "Dynasty" tour and had nosebleed seats. I needed 3 pairs of binoculars to see them but I was so happy...I agree that around that time they started living in their own bubble...and that affected their music and personal/professional relationships. They turned into "Super KISS"..Gene went from looking like a crazed, evil demon to a lovable Saturday morning cartoon character....By the time "Unmasked" came around I had moved on to other rock bands, but always still waved the flag for KISS.
