Eric Benét recently delivered a soul-stirring cover of Prince's ballad, "How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore" at the House of Blues in New Orleans during his joint M.E. tour with Marsha Ambrosius.

The R&B artist's rendition of the song elicited a round of cheers from audience members, who sang along with Benét. It's very likely that Eric performed Prince's iconic song to commemorate this Friday's one-year anniversary of the legend's death.

The Brotha Sings his face off of any Song you give him...The weird thing is that he won't go down in History as one of our Great R&B Singers....People will remember Robin Thicke before they remember Eric...Same thing with Kenny Lattimore......I'm just giving my opinion...

He is a phenomenal live performer. The first time I ever saw him was way back in the late 90s with jazz fusion artist Jeff Lorber. Eric owned the stage, I'm tellin' ya.

I don't listen to him. He's one of those anonymous singers to me like Music Soulchild, Avant, Joe, Case, etc. If I hear them I don't even know what they sound like by their voices or their songs. They all sound like one guy to me. It's like they have a "ghostsinger" like Ron Dante, who was the voice for several bubblegum groups like The Archies.

Might as well go all out-I'm waiting for Benet to sport an afro wig, wear Prince's pumps, camp out in front of Paisley Park and sing Prince covers to passer bys. This dude clearly has no pride to sing the music of your wife's deceased husband for attention. This is dick riding a ghost!

I like a few of Tony Terry's songs. I liked Jesse Powell too, but he never really became popular or got the same amount of radio airplay. But Tony came out before most of these other guys, in the New Jack Swing era. So the radio wasn't saturated with these guys like in the late 1990s and beyond. Before then, there wasn't a bunch of sound alikes. Ray Parker Jr's voice didn't sound like Teddy Pendergrass and he didn't sound like Willie Hutch and he didn't sound like Billy Ocean. I could tell who it was even if I've never heard the song before.

...LOL...You just slapped all of them in the Face...I bet you've played Joe's I wanna know on many intimate occasions.....

I thought his vocal performance was pretty good here. I have not always been impressed by his falsetto.

Maxwell's Falsetto pretty much Rules, but he can't match Eric's high notes....Also, Maxwell had some voice issues a while back, maybe even surgery...He still sounds good but you can hear the change, and you can hear a raspiness..

The only songs I have by Joe are the ones he did with Chico DeBarge & Mariah Carey. I used to listen to the Big Pun's Player No More a lot though, but not really because Joe was singing the hook. I still can't identify his voice if it's a song I don't already know it's him. I can tell Kem's voice, because I've never heard anyone else that sounds similar to Al Jarreau.

Eric is good live. I dig the jazzy joint he did with Roy Ayers years ago, Feminimity, Spend My Life With You, and News For You he did a few years ago. I think the fact that Eric can do smooth soulful R&B and jazz styled songs is what seperates him from the clusterfuck of r&b singers like Joe, Case, Jaheim, Ginuwine , Avant, etc. But yeah Eric is very underrated in terms of media respect but

dude sure as hell draw the females to his live shows. As for Robin Thicke I think he's hit his peak. He may continue to make good songs here and there but his brief flirtation with a white audience are only gonna remember him for Blurred Lines. Eric Benet actually has a better following among black

female listeners than Robin.
