Essential Frank Zappa albums Without a shadow of a doubt, Frank Zappa was one of the greatest American musicians and social commentators of the 20th century. He was as least as creative as Prince was... I only have a few of his albums: Hot Rats Zoot Allures Roxy & Elsewhere OverNite Sensations Sheik Yerbouti Joe's Garage So... Which other albums of his are the ones you just have to hear? There must be Zappa fans here who can advise on other great albums! | |

freak out: love this one... It's probably the one I play most. great sense of humor. Hillarious parodies of doo-wop and rockablilly and some great social commentary (brain police, hungry freaks,...) get the MOFO - project/object version if u can. . Make a jazz noise here / Zappa in New York: great live sets ... ZINY has the best version of titties and beer ever. . Have I offended someone: Great compilation of his most 'offensive' songs... a riot! . every volume of you can't do that on stage anymore

I've only listened to Strictly Commercial and Sheik Yerbouti! Only discovered him a few months ago, looking forward to hearing the other 107 albums!! | |

"Baby Snakes" "Apostrophe" (Zappa at his most accessible) "The Torture Never Stops" ("Dumb All Over" for some basic enlightenment on human stupidity and a mean and angry guitar solo") "A Token Of His Extreme" ("Stinkfoot", "Inca Roads", George Duke, Napoleon Murphy Brock, Chester Thompson, Ruth Underwood... How much more epic can you get?!) "You Are What You Is" "We're Only In It For The Money" "One Size Fits All" These and the ones you listed above are his most accessible albums... After these you'll want more and will be ready to dive deep into the madness that is left... Have a great journey! Neversin. O(+>NIИ<+)O

To add to the list: Chunga's Revenge - Since I don't see too much "Mothers" representation The Best Band You Never Heard in Your Life - Very underrated live album
Posthumous Releases: Imaginary Diseases - Fun live 'jam band' feel The Crux of the Biscuit - Project / Object album from Apostrophe. Amazing outtakes, mostly instrumental.
