Lady Gaga - "The Cure" I'm no Gaga fan, but this really sounds like she's chasing a trend, rather than creating one. There are many 2 or 3 songs I really like from her, the rest is meh (for me). "The Cure" sounds like something Selena Gomez Adams or Demi Permanent Lovato or one of those Disney-esque girls would record. In 5 years, it's going to sound really bad. I couldn't see this from this link, but I got it elsewhere. Your right Trivial, it seems to just copy the faceless girls that have the most radio hits lately, both musically and vocally. I like Lady Gaga a bit more than you and thought she was starting to regaim some momentum in her career, so this is really disappointing. Her recent singles haven't been the huge hits that she is used to, even though Million Reasons did catch on somewhat. I guess she will do anything to go after the huge hits, but this is a no go.

Begins with promise and sinks rapidly into mediocrity. Maybe this one was best left in the vault.

Yep just chasing the current crappy trends that are going to sound soooo dated in a few years The only recent success gaga has experienced was her Super Bowl performance otherwise she's toast The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Crazy how her ultimate idol is Bowie, a man who always fought against compromising one's art for the sake of acceptance. And that's what she exactly did: Released a song in the same vein of the current mainstream climate (Tropical EDM or whatever it's called). Sounds like a Chainsmokers leftover. Shame on her. If this is what she has to do to see herself on top of the charts, then I'm not impressed.

I guess I'm in the minority but I actually like this song, and I'm not a huge Gaga fan. You say she's jumping on trends, but isn't doing contemporary electronic music what made her successful in the first place on her first 3 albums? I see it more as returning to who she originally was. I know Joanne got some good critical reviews, but overall her fans were not into the country/rock sound. That to me seemed like a betrayal of the type of artist they fell in love with. I know pop music snobs maybe liked Joanne and hate this, but to me this is way more Gaga than the stuff on Joanne no matter how "credible" it may sound.

I think she sees him more as an idol in terms of fashion, self expression and the theatrical mode of performance, not so much musically as they have little in common musically.
Gaga unlike Bowie started doing mainstream electronic contemporary music, so I don't really see how she can compromise her art by going back to the type of music she became successful doing in the first place. [Edited 4/20/17 8:44am]

Haven't heard the song but if it's your typical EDM sounding pop hit which Gaga herself introduced to the mainstream almost a decade ago, how could she be chasing trends?
Sure it may sound generic since EDM has well overstayed its welcome on the charts but I wouldn't qualify this as Gaga jumping on the bandwagon. [Edited 4/20/17 14:48pm]

Radio seems to be reinforcing this grab for commercial success, as it is the top added record in pop music according to All Access Media. This is rather sickening given that there are much better potential releases still left on Joanne that are accessible but have Gaga's unique stamp on it such as Sinner's Prayer or Come to Momma. Whatever happen to listening to the radio to hear of diversity of music? That goal has sadly been long extinct in commercial radio.
