Again, what is the title of this thread? I gave MY opinion of Journey, which is that I personally believe they are not Hall of Fame quality. How popular they are, how many records they sold, has no bearing on my view of them. I never said anyone has to agree with me, or that all copies of their music should be destroyed so no one else can ever hear them again . If you, or anyone else , like them, or think they are great, so be it ... #SOCIETYDEFINESU

I like We Built this City, but didn't like the remix. I did get tired of hearing it at the time, but I can listen to it now. But I haven't heard Meatloaf all that heavily other than I Would Do Anything For Love. I like the song Weird Al did in Meatloaf's style. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

All By Myself We Are The Champions In The Air Tonight Please don't! That sounds like a tour through musical hell (Just my opinion- which I believe is the POINT of forums like this... ) #SOCIETYDEFINESU

"In The Air Tonight" I never get tired of. I blame Miami Vice. It's the perfect nighttime cruising song. If I had to pick a Phil Collins power ballad maybe "Against All Odds", but he crushes it so hard I can't in good conscience pick that one either.

Wasn't "We Built this City " recently voted in a poll as the Worst Record Ever ? But if YOU like it, enjoy! As for Meat Loaf, I was a teenager in NYC when his first album came out in 1977, and the Rock stations here played the hell out of it... so much so that it's hard for me to listen to it now. It sounds like Springsteen pumped up on steroids!! #SOCIETYDEFINESU

It's theatricality and steriods-y vibe is the secret to its charm?

Love Journey and I think they deserve to be in, but hey, what can I say I am biased, lol. Steve Perry has one of the greatest and distinct voices in rock and has always been one of my faves. Love is God, God is love, girls and boys love God above~

It's a fucking crime against humanity that Jouney is not in the RRHOF. They've been around since the early 1970s. That's over 40 years. Get real - Steve Perry, Gregg Rolie, Neal Schon - this is FIRST BALLOT material if ever there were any. If we need to boot some motherfuckers OUT of the Hall to make room for Journey - I say so be it and let's start with Laura Nyro.

They were inducted this year. The OP started this thread because they don't like the group and don't think they should be in. Also Steve Perry wasn't on the bands first 3 albums. Some of the early stuff was instrumentals. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Why Laura Nyro ? She was a brilliant songwriter, and a good, if idiosyncratic, singer. I love the album she did with Labelle in the early 70s called "It's Gonna Take a Miracle", where she covers R&B classics . #SOCIETYDEFINESU

I don't see why not?! The group was one of the hottest bands of their genre and era. Their music has stayed relevant over the years through it being featured in both movies and TV commercials. Not to mention, their music has successfully found its way into being reintroduced to new generations.
