Journey is one of the greatest rock bands ever. They have a handful of classic albums and hit singles.I think it's great that they were inducted.

Yep, and folks like Neal Schon come from Santana heritage, so good musical gene pool to come from. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I could take or leave them as Hall inductees. I liked their singles growing up. When I think of them now I think of Caddyshack, The Sopranos and Family Guy. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

I think if you have a building dedicated to rock and roll fame it makes sense for Journey to be in it, they were awfully rock and roll famous. . I hate them but so what, I hate lots of things.

Iffy. Great band but I'm not sure they had enough material to be RRHOF-worthy.

If you've ever released an album, you're probably gonna end up in the Rock N Roll Hall of my album: https://soundcloud.com/theroseparade

I like Journey and they were probably the first music act to have a video game. So they were ahead of everybody else who later did that like Aerosmith, Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Kris Kross, etc. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

One night,I went to a bar to have a few beers. There was a jukebox and someone played "Don't Stop Believin'".Nearly everyone in the bar was singing along to every line it was so funny. That's the true definition of "classic song"...when everyone knows the lyrics and can relate to it.

Of course they do. Journey is a rock band who were huge at one point with many well remembered classic songs. The ubiquity of "Don't Stop Believin'" alone is enough reason for them to be in.

not a huge fan of theirs but can't see why not, probably more deserving than a lot of people already in there.

NO ! This is probably the worst choice ever made by the Hall of Fame #SOCIETYDEFINESU

You're honestly saying that the decison to induct a rock band into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is the worst choice they've made?

They sold alot so yea. And the hall is running out of rock acts its going be very funny to see the uproar over kanyes induction destiny child and beyonce etc. I wonder if theyll close it out eventually. Than there be an uproar about that. Funny times ahead cant wait for the chaos to ensue. [Edited 4/13/17 12:44pm]

They might be running out of Jann Wenner approved rock acts, but there's no way there's a shortage of rock acts. It's not a big secret that Wenner doesn't really like progressive rock or heavy metal and there's not many of those kinds of acts that has been inducted in the hall. He prefers blues and R&B based rock acts like ZZ Top, Eric Clapton, & Rolling Stones, all of who are inducted. Look at who has been inducted in recent years like Paul Butterfield Blues Band & Steve Miller Band, both blues based acts. I don't thinks there's many southern rock bands (ig. Marshall Tucker Band, 38 Special, Charlie Daniels Band, etc.) inducted either. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

To me, the biggest oversight remains the J. Geils Band- made more tragic that J Geils himself would never be around to see the induction if they ever make it in #SOCIETYDEFINESU

does it really matter? I remember some musician, forget who, said that "hall's of fame" and the like are everything that rock was against.

I guess you have a very narrow view of what constitutes "rock and roll". And I maintain that every act you listed- especially Nirvana and Pearl Jam - made better music than Journey #SOCIETYDEFINESU
