There you go smile

That is da jam!!! In the summer of '81,that song was HUGE.Taken from Quincy Jone's best album 'The Dude' and featuring the lovely vocals of Patti Austin, with lyrics by Rod Temperton.A perfect combination!

"got to put back all those good times that we had..
maybe we'd do better with a little bit of Razzamatazz"

This song reminds me of better days, when the great music flowed non-stop.

It's my favorite song from that album too.Patti has said that she always opens her concerts with this track.

You know what I really like about this song? The line that goes "got to spread this message around...the people of the world should be getting down".Another song from the summer of '81,Cheryl Lynn's "Shake It Up Tonight" expressed the same sentiment..."walk the streets, let's spread the news, there's a party".

I love the idea of having a huge neighborhood block party or something.Did you ever have those out there in New York,Finess? smile

Soul sista Patti set my mood whenever I hear her sing, I def can't go wrong with that whispery/smooth/velvet voice!

My FAVE jams from her are(in no special order):

-I'm Gonna Miss You In The Mornin'(Wit Luther Vandross)
-We're In Love(MY FAVE JAM EVA!)
-Love, I Never Had It So Good(with Quincy Jones/Charles May)
-Her duet wit MJ(4got the title)
-Razzamatazz(with Quincy Jones)

You guys should def check her Ella Fitzgerald tribute LP "For Ella" very well produced and pre4mred.

I remember when Faith Evans came out and alot of RnB critics called her the modern day Patti Austin since both have the same mellow vibe going on with their music/vocals.

nice, smooth, yet FUNKY..
with the "quintessential" Quincy sound..

I think Patti Austin hasn't received enough props for her singing ability..

maybe this is because she decided years ago that she didn't want to be on the "pop diva fast track" but instead make music of good & lasting quality..
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..
