This stuff was cute at first, but now it's just getting pathetic. Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

I'm so not sitting through 28-minutes of someone else's summation of Janet Jackson. I think the 3 or 72 open threads about Janet right now speak more than this video probably does. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I call bullshit and fanaticism after about 18 seconds. Katie Kinisky: "So What Are The Latest Dances, Nell?"
Nell Carter: "Anything The Black Folks did Last Year"

I didn't watch the video but I think she's had a huge influence although she doesn't get credit for it.

I don't get the Janet Jackson adulation on here.
What did she contribute exactly? She's just some crappy singer. She's on a par with Chanice or Sonia (for those in the UK) Hamburger, Hot Dog, Root Beer, Pussy

she's just more proof that you don't need musical talent to be a "legend" in the music biz. Great dancer, great image for pop but really, come on. People like her are really an insult to the many, many women who actually can sing, can write, can play an instrument.

great album, a little derivative of other things but no, Michael's got a few that are better.

It can't be any different from Madonna, who is endlessly praised by the media; it's not like she composed the vast, vast majority of the music in her catalogue. Not composing one's own music shouldn't be viewed any different than not being the primary choreographer for a dance routine for your own song. And the simple fact is that Janet has influenced as many or more artists than Madonna. [Edited 4/13/17 4:43am] [Edited 4/13/17 4:44am] [Edited 4/13/17 5:21am]

ya, madonna is of the same ilk. Both had the luck and saavy to hire good people though and so yes, they did do some great albums. I think Madonna's like a prayer is a damn good album and Janet has a couple that are really really good.

control and rhythm nation are great albums so derivative isn't necessarily bad. Control was pure Minneapolis sound only with much clearer drum tracks, Nation ripped off a lot of sly stone. Great albums but I don't think they are as influential as a 1999 or a thriller.

I think she deserves recognition, the number of hits she has had. I am not a hard core fan of her, but I like her enough to have Best and Rhythm Nation, her music has always been nice and many lesser individuals have gotten into the Hall of the Fame before her. Her place in history is demanded. . I mean she had a baby at 50, that is pretty damn incredible. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name
